Who are we?

MellemStoppet is a social-pedagogical children and youth home, which is part of Carelink Bosteder. The overarching goal of the Children and Youth Home is to develop the competencies and skills of the children and youth, and to give them a safe and caring home. At Mellemstoppet we want this social-pedagogical work to take place in a safe, present and caring environment, where relationship and empowerment go hand in hand.

In all our houses we strive to create as homely and safe environments as possible. We want children and young people to experience their surroundings as a place where they can feel safe, have the opportunity to be themselves and experience a daily life that as far as possible resembles a normal home. The physical environments are therefore an important part of our overall pedagogical effort and support our focus on well-being, relationships and development.

Mellemstoppet is growing and is currently undergoing approval for a new house in Nyborg Municipality with space for 6 children and young people, which will form the framework for a more specialized department.

The new department is under approval with a target group consisting of children and young people aged 5-17, where the target group will be characterized by:

· Child neglect

· Developmental delay, including mild intellectual disability

· Autism spectrum disorders

· Attention disorders

We work from a humanistic view that every person has value and resources, and where the pedagogical and social-educational approach must always be based on the individual child’s or young person’s prerequisites, needs and development opportunities.

About the job

We are looking for social-educational and pedagogical staff with a solid professional background and preferably experience with children and young people within the target group.

Your background may be pedagogical and/or health-care oriented, and it is an advantage if you have knowledge of and experience with specialized pedagogical approaches and methods such as Low Arousal as well as neuro- and autism-pedagogy.

You should thrive in close relational work with children and young people and at the same time take pride in supporting their development at a high professional level.

At Mellemstoppet we work systematically and purposefully with the individual, and you will be an important part of translating professional assessments and development goals into concrete, practical pedagogical measures in everyday life.

As an employee you will be part of a team where we work closely together on the task and take our starting point in the department’s methodological approaches and the individual child’s or young person’s special needs. You will report in daily life to the department head.

The work will be organized with 24-hour shifts and evening shifts as well as shifts on both weekdays, weekends and some holidays. Since we are a children and youth home, we are open all year round.

There is talk of a job where you must be professionally well-equipped for the task, be naturally curious about your own and others’ professional capabilities and be able to translate professional knowledge into action.

You must be able to thrive in a daily life that can be changeable and require you to take responsibility and act on the challenges that arise. At the same time you must be able to assess when to reach out for sparring and help from a colleague or leader.

As Mellemstoppet is in development, you will also have the opportunity to help shape and develop the new department, its professional culture and the pedagogical practice.

We expect from you

• That you have knowledge of and preferably experience with working with socially marginalized children and youth as well as their families and networks.
• That you have a relevant pedagogical or health-care education and preferably relevant experience with the target group.
• That you have interest in or experience with autism, developmental delay, attention disorders and/or child neglect.
• That you have knowledge of pedagogical approaches such as Low Arousal as well as neuro- and autism-pedagogy – or are willing to develop your competences in the area.
• That you can work independently, be initiatory and plan your own time as well as follow up and finish the things you start.
• That you can see yourself joining a team where things can be fast-paced and where we lift together.
• That you are flexible and responsible and possess a high degree of openness and patience.
• That you can maintain an overview and work professionally in conflictful or challenging situations.
• That you have a large commitment and a drive to make a difference for children and young people who need a special effort.
• That you think holistically and can participate in both internal and external cooperation relations.
• That you can approach your tasks systematically and structurally.
• That you are good at observing, documenting and reflecting on your practice on a professionally sound basis.
• That you want to contribute to developing a department and actively contribute to the professional culture.
• That you have a clean criminal record and child protection clearance.
• That you have a driving license.
