SOSU assistant for Neptun Student Home – Special Center Southern Denmark

For our residence for children and young people with hearing impairment we are seeking an engaged SOSU assistant who will help create a safe, predictable and developmental everyday life for our residents.

About Elevhjemmet Neptun

Elevhjemmet Neptun is a specialized residential care facility for children and young people aged 6–25 years with reduced hearing function as well as possible cognitive, emotional and social challenges. The facility is normed for 9 children and youths, and the legal basis is covered by the Children's Act § 43, subsection 1, no. 6 and subsection 3, as well as the Service Act § 107.

We are physically located door-to-door with Fredericiaskolen – a regional special school consisting of primary school and STU Merkur. The children live with us for various reasons: it can be the long transport route from home, a wish to spend more leisure time with peers, or a need for respite in the family.

We are looking for a colleague who

• has a healthy interest in working relationally with children and young people.
• is skilled at creating trusting and secure relationships.
• is caring, patient, close and mentally robust.
• is able to be clear and present in one\'s demands and expectations.
• can see themselves in a target group where there may be outwardly reactive behaviour.
• has experience with – or strong curiosity about – understanding the underlying causes of challenging behaviour.
• preferably has knowledge of sign language or signs to speech (this is an advantage, but not a requirement).

Working hours

As part of our regular staff, we cover the house\'s shifts around the clock every day of the year. The position involves a flexible shift plan with a mix of day shifts, evening shifts and standby shifts (sleeping night shift with standby function), distributed over weekdays, weekends, holidays and vacations.

Employment terms

Salary and employment terms in accordance with the applicable collective agreement in the field.

Region Syddanmark will obtain a public criminal record check as well as a child background check before employment in social services and special education settings.

We are a smoke-free workplace, which means employees may not smoke during working hours.

Start date

As soon as possible or by agreement.

The region is obligated to inform you about the starting salary for the position of Social and Health Care Assistant. You will be informed of the base salary, centrally fixed allowances and pension in Social and Health Care Personnel (agreement 32.03.1) . In addition to the starting salary, the pay may include negotiated allowances depending on the position, your experience and qualifications.
