About the job

Are you passionate about making a real difference? Can you see yourself in a social-pedagogical environment where high professionalism, care, and strong relationships go hand in hand? Do you want to use your health-science background in working with children and young people with various functional impairments and at the same time be an important part of their everyday life, development and quality of life?

Imagine this: the time is a little past six. A child greets you with a big smile because you are the one who creates calm and recognizability at the start of the day. Another child needs extra support to get going. It is precisely these small moments – the relationship, the presence and the professional choices – that make the big difference. If this is the everyday you want to be part of, then Børne- og Ungehjemmet Posekær might be your next workplace.

About Posekær

Posekær is part of Børnehandicap in the Municipality of Aabenraa. We offer overnight care for children and young people with among others

  • autism
  • ADHD
  • cerebral palsy
  • general developmental disorders
  • complex physical and mental functional impairments.

Our pedagogical work takes its starting point in habilitation, development and quality of life. We meet each child with respect, curiosity and the belief that everyone has developmental potential.

No day is the same with us. Therefore we are looking for employees who can both create structure and maintain calm when everyday life changes.

Your tasks

As a pedagogue you will be an important part of the child’s everyday life and development.

You will among other things

  • create structure, predictability and development opportunities for the individual child
  • build safe relationships and support the children’s social, communicative and personal development
  • work with children and young people with outwardly reacting, self-harming and care-demanding issues
  • translate pedagogical goals into action in everyday life
  • document both pedagogical and health-science interventions
  • actively work with action plans and goals for the individual child
  • work closely with colleagues, parents and external partners
  • contribute to professional reflection and development of the pedagogical practice.

At Posekær you will become part of a workplace where we invest in our employees.

We offer

  • a meaningful job where you make a difference for children and young people every day
  • dedicated colleagues with high professionalism and a big heart
  • a thorough introduction program with a mentor and training
  • strong interdisciplinary collaboration
  • a culture characterized by helpfulness, humor and shared responsibility
  • ongoing supervision and professional sparring
  • focus on wellbeing, working environment and development
  • great opportunity for competence development.

We prioritize your professional development and believe that high quality is created through continuous learning.

Therefore we offer among other things

  • training in LA2 (Low Arousal 2)
  • introduction to neuroaffective developmental psychology
  • three annual pedagogical development days – two of which include overnight stays
  • medication management course
  • health-science teaching and training
  • annual course in use of power
  • ongoing professional sparring and supervision.

For us competence development is not just courses. We work purposefully to translate new knowledge into daily practice, so it creates real value for the children.

About you

You are first and foremost focused on the children and their development.

You are able to act in the moment and subsequently reflect on your practice, and you are motivated to develop yourself together with your colleagues.

We expect that you

  • are a trained pedagogue
  • can create structure and predictability
  • work in an appreciative and relationship-oriented way
  • can maintain an overview in complex situations
  • have good writing skills
  • have experience with – or a desire to learn – documentation and action plan work
  • prioritize interdisciplinary collaboration and parental cooperation highly
  • are flexible and contribute positively to the community.

Experience from the social or special needs sector is an advantage, but not a requirement. The most important is your motivation, your commitment and your desire to develop yourself.

Salary and employment terms

Employment is according to the applicable collective agreement between KL and the Social Pioneers. The positions are 30-37 hours per week and desired to be filled as soon as possible.

Working hours are varied and include

  • morning shifts from 6:00
  • day and evening shifts until 22:30
  • work every other weekend.

Prior to employment, a child and criminal background check will be obtained, and the employment will be conditional on these being satisfactory.
