About the job

Special school Skrillingeskolen is seeking a trained teacher for a permanent position of 37 hours/week converted to annual hours, who has an interest and preferably experience in autism. Start as soon as possible or no later than January 1, 2027.

About Skrillingeskolen

Skrillingeskolen is a municipal public school for students with general learning difficulties. Our offering is a holistic package with a school part that starts from the individual student, and a special educational leisure time provision. Instruction follows the Danish Public School Act with reference to the special education regulations. All students are admitted to the school.

The school currently has 86 students from 0–10th grade and about 40 children in the after-school program (SFO). Our staff comprises around 70 employees – teachers, pedagogues, assistants, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, speech and hearing teachers, and administrative staff.

Many of our students have, in addition to general learning difficulties, other challenges, such as autism spectrum disorders (ASD), ADHD or similar behavioral disorders, and possibly multiple disabilities. At the school we use special educational knowledge and methods across the different areas in relation to pedagogical practice. There is also emphasis on communication, structure, visualization and recognizability depending on the individual child’s development level.

When employed at Skrillingeskolen, one is employed for the entire school. The current position is on the school’s ASD track in a lower primary/middle-grade class.

Our task and approach

At Skrillingeskolen we work from the ambition that all students shall become as skilled as they can be. We therefore seek teachers who start from the students’ competences and potential, can compensate for their difficulties, and create frameworks for well-being, participation and learning in meaningful communities.

Collaboration and culture

The pedagogical work is based on close teamwork across disciplines. We have a trusting and extended home-school collaboration, and a good collaboration culture both internally and externally with our partners inside and outside the municipality. Therefore, we are an attractive workplace with high well-being.

We emphasize that you

  • have competences in the autism area
  • it would be an advantage if you are a reading tutor
  • can see yourself working across all departments in our organization
  • work in an appreciative manner, and have an eye for the students’ resources, and perceive the child’s signals
  • focus on being a relationship-capable adult
  • have drive and can motivate students and colleagues
  • are responsible and motivated to take on the teaching responsibility in the team
  • are able to create predictability, and maintain overview and initiative in pressured situations
  • are skilled at collaborating, so you, together with us, shape the children’s learning goals and the school going forward

We offer

  • being part of an effective interdisciplinary team of skilled colleagues, with the role of tutor for students in your team
  • participation in a team collaboration that depends on each other in carrying out common and individual tasks
  • being part of a development-oriented school that works a lot with well-being for both students and staff
  • a school that values practice- and application-oriented teaching and uses its own outdoor areas as well as the local environment
