About the job

Can you ensure coherent, realistic and controllable planning of application transformation across the Defence – translating strategic direction into executable implementation plans? Then perhaps you are the one we should hire in our societally critical program.

About us

The enterprise-wide program for Digital and Operational Transformation (DOT) was established mid-2025 and will build the foundation for future data-centric defence.

You will become a part of DOT Execution. Execution is responsible for developing, building and initially driving the Defence's new digital backbone. The purpose is to ensure a robust, secure and future-proof infrastructure, which forms the basis for digital operation and operational cohesion across the entire Defence. At the same time, Execution is responsible for carrying out application transformation so that the Defence's IT systems and solutions can operate optimally on the new critical infrastructure.

You will be employed in the Office for Application Transformation, which is responsible for strategy, sourcing, planning and architecture for the application transformation.

About the position

Your main tasks and responsibilities will be

  • Planning for new and existing applications that are part of a complex application transformation
  • Mapping organizational and technical prerequisites for the individual phases of the migration
  • Engaging in dialogue with the business to prioritize the sequence of the application transformation
  • Dialogue with system suppliers about upgrades and replacements of applications
  • Prepare delivery and execution plans, for example by translating strategic goals into concrete implementation
  • Coordination and cross-cutting alignment, for example by holding workshops
  • Risk-based planning such as identifying risks in the migration process
  • Deliverables, plans and collaboration with application projects - project managers and steering groups.

A concrete example of an expected deliverable would be: to contribute to a consolidated and up-to-date delivery and dependency overview for a business area, including a coordinated plan for transforming the area's existing applications, including possible replacement with new applications and dependencies. Ongoing documented follow-up on risks and outstanding items as well as ongoing collection of learning and experiences for further work.

About you

You have an academic education and define yourself as a generalist with a very strong planning gene. Your profile could advantageously match, for example, a project manager.

In addition, we have a desire for the following professional and personal competences

  • Collaborative and structured, so you can manage and plan
  • Experience with strategic planning and a strong understanding of planning methods
  • You have an understanding of strategic application assessment including commercial understanding of applications' value creation, including thinking innovatively and challenging the status quo
  • Technical understanding and preferably knowledge of architecture and applications
  • Understanding of project models such as the State IT Project Model
  • Very structured, analytical and good at creating progress
  • Strong focus on quality and security
  • Take independent responsibility for your own tasks and you are persistent in delivering by the planned deadline
  • You thrive in complexity and with many stakeholders
  • You communicate in both Danish and English in writing and speaking.

Terms of employment

The employment is in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Collective Agreement).

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is the possibility of negotiating a supplement. The position is tied to an employer-funded pension scheme.

The workplace is in Ballerup

As an employee within the Ministry of Defence's area you are subject to some special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance during the entire employment.

You have a duty as an employee to perform service outside the country, including at units in international operations with a view to participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacemaking, humanitarian and other similar operations.
