About the job

Do you want to be part of a rapidly growing organization that will establish and develop the Armed Forces' operational capacity within space operations?

Are you keen to help establish space as an operational domain in the Defence? Then perhaps you are the person we are looking for for a position as an employee at the Defence's upcoming joint service space department in the Royal Danish Air Force's National Air Operations Centre in Karup.

About us

The Air Command is part of the Defence Command. The Air Command is organized with three divisions, where the National Air Operations Centre represents the Operations Division. The Space Operations Center is located at the National Air Operations Centre and consists of two sections: an operations section and an analysis section. The Analysis Section, in which you will be a part, conducts analyses in the areas of solvejr, Positioning, Navigation and Timing, Space Situational Awareness, intelligence, Shared Early Warning and satellite communications and develops products for the Operations Section.

The Operations Section interacts with national and international operations centres and their own staff, and integrates the Analysis Section's products into the operational task execution.

About the position

We offer an exciting and challenging job where you will have the opportunity to influence the establishment of space as a military domain in a joint service department in the Royal Danish Air Force.

The work with establishing space capacity will initially consist of analytical work and the development of an implementation and build-up plan, after which the capacity will be built up gradually in 2026 and in the following years.

The work area will include handling data within Positioning/Navigation/Timing, Satellite Communications; Space Situational Awareness, Earth and space weather, etc. The position involves collaboration with a wide range of internal and external authorities, including industry and higher education institutions.

Since space operations is a new specialty in the Defence, and knowledge of the domain in an operationalized context is therefore limited, training and education are important, so education etc. within the specialty will be offered.

The workplace is at Karup Air Base and you have influence over your own working time arrangement, including homeworking when necessary and possible.

About you

You are analytically strong and can juggle many tasks at once and keep focus on the task at hand. You are structured, have a good mood and good collaboration skills. You also thrive in an environment where precision, responsibility and quality are paramount.

We emphasize that you

  • Work purposefully and independently with your tasks within your own area - and are good at involving others' knowledge and abilities in your own work.
  • Have good diplomatic skills and are good at establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships.
  • Have good communication skills, both written and spoken, in Danish and English.
  • Have an overview, sense of order and a sense of responsibility, and you value precision in your work.
  • Contribute positively and with a good mood to the overall task solution and are good at creating a network across the organization, built on mutual respect.

You thrive in working independently on complex tasks in a changing everyday life, across authorities with sometimes high workload and tight deadlines.

Terms of employment

If you are an academic, you are employed according to the prevailing collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).

If you have office training or another relevant education, you are employed according to the prevailing Joint Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations – The Public Sector (OAO-S Joint Agreement) and the organizational agreement for office functionaries, laboratory technicians and IT staff.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is an opportunity for negotiation of allowances. There is an employer-financed pension scheme associated with the position.

The place of work is in Karup.

As an employee under the Ministry of Defence, you are subject to certain special terms. You must, among other things, be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance throughout the employment relationship.

You as an employee have a duty to render service outside the country, including at units in international operations with a view to participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacemaking, humanitarian and other similar operations.
