Structural Engineer – with a flair for project design

Experienced structural engineer who likes to take ownership of their own projects and can translate complex structures into thoroughly developed and robust solutions.

At Torkil Laursen we are looking for an experienced structural engineer who thrives with responsibility, has strong professional competences and is motivated to carry projects safely from the initial sketches to the finished construction. You will be responsible for your own projects and become a central professional key person throughout the entire project process.

The position involves not only calculation and design of load-bearing structures but also responsibility for coordinating solutions, advising clients and ensuring that quality, economy and progress go hand in hand. You will work with both new build, renovation and refurbishment, where you will have the opportunity to influence the technical solutions from idea phase to delivery.

Your tasks

As a structural engineer at Torkil Laursen you are expected to independently be able to design and develop structural solutions on your own projects. You will have the technical responsibility for the design of the load-bearing structures and become an important sparring partner for both clients, colleagues and other consultants throughout the project process.

Your tasks will therefore include among other things

• Independent design of load-bearing structures within new buildings, renovations and refurbishment.
• Preparation of static calculations, structural principles and technical documentation.

· Dimensioning and assessment of load-bearing structures in timber, steel, concrete and masonry.

· Coordination of structural solutions with client, contractors, architects and other consultants.

· Quality assurance and technical clarifications throughout the project process.

· Inspection and assessment of existing buildings and structures.

· Technical supervision and follow-up on executing work.

· Contribution to development of technical solutions and optimization of projects.

· Sparring with colleagues and contribution to the department's professional development.

· Further dissemination and coordination of drawing tasks with our technical designers.

About you

You are a trained engineer with a specialization in structures or equivalent and have minimum 5 years of experience from a consulting engineering company or similar.

In addition you have

• Minimum 5 years of experience with design and calculation of load-bearing structures.
• Experience in independently driving your own projects and taking responsibility for technical solutions.
• In-depth knowledge of Eurocodes, SBI 271, YBL and BR18.
• Experience with both refurbishment projects and new builds.
• Good understanding of building physics and the interaction of structures with other building elements.
• Familiarity with the collaboration between BIM, design and other engineering disciplines.
• Ability to work independently and in a structured manner.
• Good communication skills in Danish, both oral and written.
• Certification as a statics engineer is an advantage, but not a requirement.

It is also advantageous if you have a crafts background or have otherwise acquired a strong practical understanding of execution and building technology solutions.
