Apply for the position

Do you want to lead a dedicated specialist team that works on some of Denmark's large and exciting projects within coastal protection and shore protection?

Sweco's Team for Coast and Climate is on an exciting journey. We work on projects such as Nordkystens Fremtid, Darum-Tjæreborg Dige and Køge Dige. Now we are seeking a team leader who can further develop the team and the business with a foundation that has already been created.

The team consists of nine employees with specialist competencies in ports, coastal protection, coastal defense and hydrodynamic modeling. The team handles its own projects and also contributes professional expertise to tasks across Sweco. The collaboration and project work takes place both nationally and internationally within Sweco Group.

The team is part of the Department for Harbor & Water Construction, where we broadly work with advisory services and design within coast, climate, harbours, quays and construction. We bring together different professional disciplines and deliver integrated advisory services throughout the project process. The interdisciplinary collaboration enables us to develop holistic and sustainable solutions to complex challenges for customers and society.

As team leader you thus join the leadership group of the department. Here you sit together with two other team leaders and the department director, and you collectively share responsibility for setting direction, prioritizing efforts and developing the department academically, organizationally and commercially. You share experiences, challenge each other’s perspectives and help each other make good decisions regarding, among other things, employees, resources, projects, customers and business development.

At the same time you are mutually dependent because the department’s teams share competencies, contribute to common projects and must together ensure high quality, good well-being and a healthy business. You therefore get both clear responsibility for your own team and an active role in developing the entire department.

About the position

As team leader you will have overall responsibility for the team’s employees, projects and business. The role spans broadly and combines personnel leadership, professional and commercial development, cross-functional collaboration and active project management.

You set the direction for the team’s development and create the framework for high professional quality, well-being and a well-functioning community. At the same time you will play a central role in strengthening collaboration across Sweco and building good relationships with, among others, architects and specialists in environment, nature, infrastructure, water and climate. Collaboration takes place across the business and both nationally and internationally in Sweco Group.

As part of your commercial responsibilities you will have full responsibility for the team’s budget, finances, pipeline and resource planning. You are close to the market and actively contribute to developing customer relationships, identifying new opportunities and ensuring a healthy and long-term project portfolio.

Around 40% of your time will be related to project management and the execution of projects. Therefore you should be keen to be professionally involved and able to step into projects when needed to support progress, finances, coordination and customer dialogue.

Your main tasks will be to

  • Lead and further develop a team of nine employees with a focus on well-being, professional sparring and competence development.
  • Set the direction for the team’s professional and commercial development within coastal protection and shore protection.
  • Ensure a healthy business through responsibility for budget, finances, pipeline and resource planning.
  • Drive and support projects from sketch to finished project with a focus on progress, quality and economy.
  • Develop customer relationships, monitor the market and actively contribute to bid work and new business opportunities.
  • Strengthen collaboration with architects and specialists within environment, water and climate as well as other relevant fields.
  • Actively contribute to the department’s leadership group and strengthen collaboration across disciplines and borders – both nationally and internationally in Sweco Group.

About a good match

You have solid knowledge of the market for coastal protection and shore protection – and understand the professional, regulatory and commercial aspects that shape civil engineering projects in the coastal zone. You thrive in a role where you both develop people and business and stay closely involved with the projects.

As team leader you are approachable and engaged in collaboration with employees, customers and other experts. You communicate clearly, build trust and contribute to an environment where employees help each other and succeed together.

We envisage that you

  • Have in-depth knowledge of the market for coastal protection and shore protection and can translate market insight into concrete opportunities.
  • Have experience with civil engineering projects in the coastal zone and with project processes from initial sketches to the finished project.
  • Have knowledge of the Coastal Protection Act and the regulatory processes associated with coastal zone projects.
  • Can drive project management and ensure progress, finances, quality and coordination in complex projects.
  • Want to take responsibility for personnel leadership and create clear and supportive frameworks for the team’s development and well-being.
  • Are collaborative and can build good relationships across disciplines, departments and borders.
  • Are motivated to take the next step and further develop a team and a business that is already well on its way.
