About the job
Do you want to help open the door to good leisure communities for children and youth in Glostrup?
A leisure community can mean a lot. It can be the place where you make new friends, feel you belong, get better at something and gain more courage for everyday life.
But for some children and young people the path into the community can be hard to find. We’d like to do something about that, and maybe you can help us.
We are looking for a student assistant who is eager to make a concrete difference for children and young people in Glostrup. You will, together with our leisure guides, help children, youths and families find their way to leisure activities and communities that fit them.
About leisure guidance
The leisure guidance service in Glostrup Municipality helps children and young people aged 0-24 to find their way into good leisure activities and communities. Through guidance and bridging to local offers, the effort supports that more children and young people have an active leisure life and experience social communities. In addition to guidance, the leisure guide also administers the municipality’s leisure pass scheme, which provides financial support for membership fees, equipment and participation in camps and stævner, where the family’s finances can be a barrier to participation.
The position
As a student assistant you will become part of the leisure guidance effort in Culture, Sports and Leisure. An important part of your work will be meeting children, youths and families where they are. It could be at a school, in a SFO or club, at the library or other places in the municipality.
Through conversations and guidance you help identify interests, desires and possibilities. At the same time you will gain close contact with Glostrup’s associations, so you learn their offerings and can help create the good match between the child or the young person and the right leisure community.
Sometimes it’s about finding the right activity. Other times it’s about making the first step a little easier.
Your primary tasks will be to
- reach out to and establish contact with children and young people who can benefit from a leisure community
- talk with children, young people and parents about interests, wishes and possibilities
- guide families about leisure activities and association offers
- facilitate contact between children, youths, families and associations
- help families apply for financial support for leisure activities
- be visible at schools, in SFOs, clubs, day care, at the library and other relevant places
- help tell about the leisure guidance services so that even more families know the opportunities for help and guidance.
- in collaboration with the team, contribute to the execution of larger events
You will not be alone in the task. You will become part of a dedicated team and will especially work closely with our two part-time leisure guidance staff.
Who are you?
We envision, above all, that you enjoy meeting people and want to make a difference for children and young people.
It is an advantage if you know the voluntary/association life yourself and know how much it can mean to be warmly welcomed when you are new.
We hope also that you
- are approachable and good at building trust
- can meet children, young people and families at eye level
- take initiative and dare to create contact with people you don’t know yet
- can work independently and at the same time thrive as part of a team
- are passionate about the well-being of children and young people and their participation in communities
- have experience from the voluntary/association sector, e.g. as a member, volunteer, coach or instructor
- are currently pursuing a relevant higher education degree and have at least one year left of your studies.
Your field of study is not the most important to us. The most important are your motivation, your curiosity and your ability to create good relationships.
About us
Team Culture and Sports is part of the Center for Culture, Sports and Leisure. The Culture Team handles tasks within culture, sport, folk high schools, volunteering and senior life. You will report to the center manager. In addition to colleagues at the town hall, the center consists of Glostrup Library, Glostrup Sports Facility, Glostrup Music School, the Local History House as well as the Activity Centre for citizens 60+, disability pensioners and flex workers.
We are an informal workplace with a lighthearted atmosphere where everyone contributes to the good mood in our shared office. We help each other and wish for a work-life balance.
Glostrup Municipality is currently focusing on professionalism in task execution, cross-cutting work processes and friendliness and openness. Three values that are already largely embedded in the culture, sports and leisure area. You must therefore be able to see yourself in this and be prepared to continue efforts both in the center’s own area and in close cooperation with the other professional areas in the municipality.
