About the job

As a Recycling Guide you become part of a young and engaged team of students with different academic backgrounds. Together we develop and implement teaching, activities and events for children, young people and adults in Frederiksberg. We meet people where they are. In the classroom, on the street, at events and in everyday life. Through dialogue, activities, stories and experiences we make complex topics tangible and relevant.

We believe that people learn best through curiosity, reflection and good experiences rather than a raised finger.

As a recycling guide you are not only involved in delivering activities. You also get the opportunity to develop new ideas, test them in real life and help shape the way Frederiksberg Municipality meets its citizens.

What will you specifically do?

Your tasks may include

  • carry out school visits for 0th–9th grade classes at Frederiksberg schools
  • participate in and run events such as Nature Days, BørnefestiBal, Frederiksberg Days, Grønne Dage and Christmas tree lighting
  • stand at information booths in the town
  • engage in dialogue with citizens about sorting, recycling and resources
  • develop new activities, teaching programs and communication approaches with the team
  • contribute to exhibitions, workshops and other citizen-facing activities
  • help develop activities in the Recycling Guides' temporary dissemination house, the Recycling House
  • solve ad hoc tasks at the office, e.g. pack and deliver communication materials to properties, order materials from the printing house, answer emails about school visits, tidy up the warehouse and similar.

You should expect to work about 1–2 Saturdays per month during April–October in connection with events.

We provide thorough training so you feel confident in the role and well prepared both professionally and in communication.

We offer

  • a student job with great variation and responsibility
  • experience with communication, teaching and events
  • opportunity to develop and test your own ideas
  • a strong community with other students
  • ongoing sparring and skills development
  • insight into the work in a politically governed organization

We are looking for someone who

  • is enrolled in a higher education program and has at least two years left of your studies
  • wants to work with communication, teaching, outreach or events
  • enjoys meeting many different people
  • can stand in front of a class, a group of citizens or participants at an event and make contact
  • is curious, proactive and not afraid to try new ideas
  • is good at explaining complex topics in a simple and engaging way
  • enjoys both independent work and collaboration
  • has an interest in waste, recycling, resources or green transition

It is not a requirement that you know a lot about waste beforehand. We will teach you that. The most important thing is that you want to learn and inspire others.

Working hours

  • 8 hours per week
  • Events typically take place on weekends or in the afternoons (about 2 shifts per month)
  • Some evening events during the year

We are flexible and accommodate your studies.
