About the job

Are you our new colleague?

Are you a nurse and do you thrive in a professionally strong and engaged team, where collaboration, independence and a good working environment go hand in hand? Are you motivated by making a difference for newborns, their families and your colleagues?

We are currently seeking a nurse for a permanent position with start date 1 January 2027 or by agreement.

Who are we?

We are an engaged team of experienced and competent nurses who are passionate about our profession and our specialty. We are professionally curious, a little “nerdy” in a good way and proud of what we do. We are dedicated to our department and have a common goal of delivering nursing of the highest quality and making a positive difference for the families we meet.

The department is led in close collaboration between the chief nurse and the chief physician. We have a strong multidisciplinary focus and work closely with the department's other wards, different professional groups, other hospitals and municipal health services. In this way we create a coherent and holistic effort around each family.

A working life with influence and flexibility.

We work in mixed shifts and every 3rd weekend, primarily in 12-hour shifts. We have preferred working hours, which give you great influence on how your weekend shifts are arranged.

We prioritize a work life where there is room for professionalism, responsibility and flexibility.

We learn – together

Development and learning are a natural part of our everyday life. We see ourselves as a learning department, where we learn from each other every day – across experience, competences and generations.

We work both with informal, collegial learning and with more structured learning activities such as SKIK, theme months, spot training and simulation training – and we continuously develop new initiatives.

With us it is important that you have the opportunity to develop professionally and contribute with your own knowledge and experience.

We think digitally

We are curious about how digital solutions can support our work and create value for both families and staff. We therefore continuously work to develop and implement digital solutions that can make everyday life easier and strengthen the quality of our nursing.

The family at the center

We work from a family-centered approach with Fundamentals of Care as our conceptual framework. This means that we see the whole family and focus on the physical, psychological, social and relational needs.

We also place great emphasis on psychological safety. For us, professional quality and well-being are closely linked. Therefore we prioritize a working environment where there is room to ask questions, share knowledge, ask for help and learn from mistakes – but also room for humor, laughter and a good amount of collegiality. For we believe that a good atmosphere and strong relationships between colleagues help create the best conditions for both employees and families.

The department receives premature and sick newborns from gestational age 28 weeks and up to three months old. We have room for 15 children and function as a semi-intensive department with primarily acute admissions. Our premature patients are often very small or seriously ill children who require rapid stabilization and in some cases preparation for further transport to other hospitals. This makes us a department in constant motion, where adaptability and action are a natural part of everyday life.

We also have many premature babies who often require longer inpatient stays before they can be discharged home. This means that our department is a combination of semi-intensive, acutely ill care and longer-term processes, care and close follow-up are in focus.

We offer all families private rooms, where both parents have the opportunity to stay overnight and actively participate in the care and treatment of their child. Siblings are always welcome, and we prioritize keywords such as "zero-separation" highly in our daily work.

We offer you

We offer a structured onboarding program where you are introduced to the specialty through teaching, close sparring with an experienced mentor and accompaniment in your first shifts, without you entering the standardization. Thereafter you will gradually be assigned tasks that match your level, always with support from an experienced colleague.

The Department of Sick Newborns and Very Young is known for being a good place to start as a new employee. We highly prioritize your well-being, professional development and learning so you get the best prerequisites to succeed in your role.
