Technicians for the establishment and operation of a Ceph storage platform at Statens IT

Do you have solid experience with Linux, storage and open source technologies? Do you want to help build a new central storage platform for the state? Then State IT is looking for two strong employees who will take a central role in the design, establishment and subsequent operation of a Ceph-based storage platform.

About the position

You will become part of the Center for Infrastructure, where we operate and develop a wide range of Statens Its central infrastructural platforms.

The platform will initially support a storage need for our customers who use storage at petabyte scale. At the same time, the establishment of Ceph is part of our strategic work to increase the use of open source technologies and reduce dependence on proprietary solutions. Your first major task will be, together with colleagues, to establish a robust and production-ready Ceph platform. Thereafter you will be an important part of the ongoing operation, automation, further development and capacity management of the solution.

Your tasks will include

• Design and establishment of a Ceph-based storage platform
• Installation, configuration and optimization of Ceph
• Establishment of a stable and secure production operation
• Capacity management and scaling of the platform
• Automation of installation, configuration and operational tasks
• Collaboration with other infrastructure teams on integration to server-, virtualization-, network- and backup platforms

About you

We imagine that you have a strong technical profile and experience with operating infrastructural platforms.

It is an advantage if you have experience with several of the following areas

• Ceph or other distributed storage platforms
• Linux administration
• Block-, file- and object storage
• RBD, CephFS and/or S3-compatible object storage
• Networks and storage protocols
• Container and virtualization platforms
• High availability, redundancy and disaster recovery

You do not necessarily need to already be a Ceph specialist. The most important is that you have a solid infrastructural understanding, are technically curious and want to specialize in distributed storage and open source.

Employment terms

You are employed under the applicable collective agreement with the possibility of negotiation depending on qualifications.
