About the job

Are you excited by nature and people, and do you have a passion for creating and promoting nature and nature experiences together with others – not least, are you interested in authority handling and board support as well as the design of outdoor opportunities in nature national parks? Then we may have the job for you.

The Nature Agency West Jutland is seeking a nature national park employee focused on outdoor life/facilities in a temporary position until June 30, 2028. In the position, where you become part of our Outdoor Life Team, you will have the opportunity to help solve the task of developing the nature national parks Husby and Stråsø and the unit’s land management more broadly.

The focus of the position is especially to support the Nature Agency West Jutland’s secretariat support to the two established boards, as well as the development and construction of outdoor facilities in the nature national parks and also to take responsibility for outdoor facilities on the unit’s other lands.

Nature National Park Stråsø faces a number of applications for statutory permits and exemptions and subsequent implementation including detailed design. The application for the fundamental establishment permit has been submitted to SGAV, and a permit is awaited.

Nature National Park Husby is currently in the phase where the project description is prepared, including a forthcoming public consultation, discussion in the board and political approval before regulatory work and detail design.

The Nature Agency West Jutland manages the state forests and nature areas, totaling about 25,000 ha in five western Danish municipalities with a particular focus on nature and outdoor life, including the two designated nature national parks. In addition, we handle regulatory tasks within hunting and wildlife management and carry out projects within nature and outdoor life. We are also active in the green tripartite and have responsibility for climate-friendly, wetland and afforestation projects.

The unit employs a total of about 35 staff, of whom 20 are at the unit office in Klosterheden located between Holstebro, Struer and Lemvig.

Tasks

You will, together with the unit’s project managers for the two nature national parks and other staff, contribute especially in the outdoor area to applications for permits and exemptions, as well as to the design, planning and description of detailed projects, including not least planning of outdoor initiatives – and subsequently implementation and establishment.

Management and planning will take place in close and inclusive dialogue with partners, stakeholders and users, where your main tasks will be:

  • Join the Nature Agency’s secretariat support of the two established nature park boards in close cooperation with the project management at Nature Agency West Jutland.
  • Apply for permits and exemptions for the implementation of the project description of Nature National Park Stråsø and contribute to the detail design of the outdoor initiative.
  • Contribute to the production of a politically approved Naturnationalpark Husby project description within the political and legal framework, and subsequently work with consulting notes, detail design and materiality assessment as well as other regulatory processing in cooperation with the project leader and colleagues in the project group.
  • Other relevant management tasks within the unit’s geography depending on your experience and professional competences.

In addition to the above, you will also take responsibility for operation, maintenance and development of outdoor facilities on lands managed by the unit, and there will be opportunities to contribute to the overall task portfolio at Nature Agency West Jutland. This may include involvement in other types of nature and outdoor life projects as well as solving tasks in the daily management of state lands and in the unit’s administration.

Your profile

You may have a background as a landscape or nature manager, forestry candidate, biologist, geographer, anthropologist, forest and landscape engineer or similar.

You have an interest in co-creative collaborations for the benefit of nature, biodiversity and outdoor life and have an interest in and preferably experience with the regulatory and legal frameworks for nature and outdoor life.

You have the ability and willingness to listen, analyze and engage in constructive dialogue and to create good collaborations with different stakeholders and users, as this is a core value for the unit’s work in general. Your written skills must be strong, and you must have good management understanding and the ability to deliver inspiring oral presentations. Last but not least, you must be good at initiating, managing and following up on practical land-related tasks within the outdoor area.

Furthermore we expect that you

  • work holistically and proactively, and that you can place different ideas and interests into a larger and balanced context that respects the management and legal frameworks and aligns with politically set goals.
  • can maintain an overview and deliver results in a busy daily life with many different professional and concrete issues.
  • are good at collaborating broadly – both internally and externally.
  • want to be a team player in the Outdoor Life Team and have the ability and willingness to give and take constructive feedback in task solving.
  • are a good communicator, who can convey the professional content both in writing and speaking.
  • are a versatile IT user.
  • are a flexible and helpful colleague who focuses on results and naturally promotes collaboration and builds strong relationships.
  • have a good sense of humor and a positive outlook on life and enjoy productive teamwork.
