About the job

Are you up for giving a 9-year-old boy one-to-one adult contact, support and joyful moments for 5 hours? Then you might be our new relief caregiver.

It is both rewarding and demanding to be a relief caregiver. It requires patience, tolerance and energy at the same time as you gain a lot in return and experience the joy of having a significant impact in a child's life. Do you have the time and the desire to take on this task? Then read more here!

About the position

The purpose of the relief is to provide both the boy and his family with relief on weekdays or weekends by agreement. The scope of the relief is on average 5 hours per week.

Your primary task as a relief caregiver will be to provide the boy with 1-to-1 adult contact and support, calm hands and joyful moments.

It is about a boy with lots of energy and, when there is no headwind, he is a happy boy who loves to show how good he is at various things that interest him.

He enjoys cycling, doing parkour, tumbling and looking at cool cars. Therefore it would be an advantage if you are willing to cycle with him or do parkour with him (low beginner level).

He also loves gaming, e.g. Pokemon Go or playing Minecraft and car racing games on PlayStation.

On Tuesdays he goes to scouts, which he has done for 3 years.

He needs adult guidance, including setting clear boundaries and guidance to regulate his anger, as he often does not see the consequences of his unfortunate actions.

There is also a need for someone who can compassionately help him if he has an “accident” in his pants.

The relief can take place both in and outside the home. The family resides in the Skanderborg area.

We expect you to be stable, patient and understanding of the boy's needs/challenges.

Application

Application deadline is 1 November 2026.

Employment

The task is paid by Skanderborg Municipality, and the primary employers will be the family themselves. A police and child protection check will be obtained prior to employment.

  • Salary is adjusted in accordance with the current rates issued by the Association of Danish Municipalities
  • Salary is paid as hourly wages monthly in arrears
  • From Skanderborg Municipality there is no reimbursement of any chosen expenses associated with the relief; these are borne by the parents
