Travel guide for Albatros Long-Term Holiday

Travel guide for Albatros Long-Term Holiday

Move winter south – and create holiday experiences guests remember

At Albatros we are looking for engaged travel guides for our Scandinavian teams at some of Southern Europe's most popular winter destinations.

Imagine that your workday begins with a walk along the beach in the morning sun. You live under the southern sun for several weeks or months, get to know the local area and become part of the daily life for guests who have chosen to swap the Danish winter for warmth, experiences and camaraderie.

What is Albatros Long-Term Holiday?

Our guests do not just travel on holiday – they move south for 3-4 weeks. They stay at carefully selected hotels on destinations such as Costa del Sol, Madeira, Algarve, Malta, Sicily, Crete and Tenerife, where they have time to settle in, explore the local area and become part of a social community.

As a travel guide you are their fixed contact throughout the stay. You are the local expert, the good host and the one who helps create the atmosphere that makes many guests return year after year.

A typical day

No day on Long-Term Holiday is the same. One day starts with a Beach Walk along the seafront. The next is an excursion, a wine tasting, a group hike or a language lesson.

You help guests with big and small needs, are visible at the hotel and create activities that bring people together. This can be communal dinners, bridge, quizzes or other social events. You also notice the small things – such as ensuring that no one eats alone, and that new guests quickly become part of the community.

At the same time there is room for initiative. If the weather changes the days plans, you come up with a new activity. If the town buzzes with a local market or carnival, you see the opportunity to create yet another experience for the guests.

It’s not only about following a program – it’s about creating a holiday that guests will remember.

Here’s what the season looks like

Our seasons vary by destination, but common to all is that you stay at the hotel with the guests and become a natural part of life at the destination.

In the busiest months of the year – especially November – you may be on the same destination for a longer period of more than 3 weeks.

In Andalusia you work as part of a larger Scandinavian team, where you together host several groups of guests and distribute activities, excursions and daily contact. At our other destinations you typically work in smaller teams of 2-3 travel guides, where you follow one group of guests throughout their stay. This provides close collaboration with both colleagues and guests and the opportunity to really shape the experience.

Who are you?

You are motivated by creating great experiences for others and thrive in a role where hospitality and service are a natural part of everyday life.

You don’t need to know the destination beforehand – you will learn it. The most important thing is that you are curious, take initiative and want to build community and memorable holiday experiences.

We imagine that you

  • have experience from service, hotel, travel or experiences industries
  • are passionate about good guest service and take pride in making people feel welcome
  • are proactive and see opportunities rather than limitations
  • enjoy being visible and proactive toward guests
  • want to plan and run activities that create community
  • take responsibility and keep an overview – even when the day doesn’t go as planned
  • speak a Scandinavian language and can communicate in English

Experience as a guide is an advantage, but not a requirement. The right personality and strong service mindset are far more important.

What do we offer?

At Albatros you become part of a strong Scandinavian community where we help each other and share a passion for creating great travel experiences.

We offer among other things

  • seasonal hires of varying lengths depending on destination
  • opportunity to live and work in some of Southern Europe’s most attractive winter destinations
  • a strong Scandinavian team with dedicated colleagues

For many, Long-Term Holiday is the start of a longer journey with Albatros. If you thrive in the role and want to develop, there may eventually be opportunities to train as a round-the-world tour guide at some of our many destinations around the world.
