UI/UX designer for Admin By Request

An IT administrator should be able to find a request and approve it without hunting for the right button. It sounds simple. Getting that experience to hang together across our products is the task you will get at Admin By Request.

You will play a central role in shaping the common design language and user experience in products used by, among others, Disney, Garmin, Take-Two, McLaren, Aston Martin and Puma. You will both set the direction and design the solutions yourself.

We are in the process of developing a new web portal and at the same time modernizing our existing user interfaces. These are some of the concrete tasks waiting. Today, design decisions are spread across several people. Now we are gathering the responsibility with one permanent colleague who can set a common direction and further develop the user experience across our products.

What you will be responsible for

You will be responsible for the visual coherence between our administrative web portal and our Windows, Mac and Linux clients as well as mobile solution. You will work closely with developers on how the design works in the finished product.

The task ranges from individual screen designs to complete user journeys. For example, our event log: Does it give the best overview as a list, or is the flow clearer as a timeline? You investigate the need and translate your reflections into a design we can build.

You will gather knowledge from users and from colleagues in support and QA, and supplement with data on how users use our products. Together with the development teams you use that knowledge to prioritize which improvements we should tackle first. If you have experience with user tracking or similar methods to understand user behavior, that is a plus.

We would like to see your craftsmanship

You are strong in UI design and can explain why your solutions look and function the way they do. Your portfolio is therefore an important part of our first meeting with you.

We especially emphasize that you

• Can show well-worked user interfaces with a secure visual style and a sense for details.
• Have UX understanding and can use user insights to make complex flows easier to navigate.
• Can translate your ideas into solutions in close collaboration with developers.
• Drive your tasks independently and resolve questions that arise along the way.

We do not require a specific education or a fixed number of years of experience. The key is the quality of your work and the considerations behind it.

Experience from a software company or with administrative systems is a plus. The same goes for design systems and accessibility, including WCAG. If you can also contribute with CSS or frontend development, you will have that opportunity, but coding is not a requirement.

The challenging and the good

You will be responsible for design in a company where there are already clear opinions about what works. We expect you to challenge us and show how another solution could make the product better. You must also find a way forward together with the developers, so the design work helps them progress.

Part of the task will be to strengthen our knowledge about users and their needs. You must be able to seek the necessary insight, test assumptions and assess when there is a good enough basis to make a design decision without the process stalling.

In return, you will have influence on products you can follow over time. You help set the direction and can see how your choices work when solutions are put into use.

The work will shift in character along the way. In the beginning, modernization and the shared design system dominate. Later, tasks may also include implementation or web design together with marketing, depending on your competencies. You must be willing to take on that breadth and to get to know the products thoroughly.
