Teacher of Danish as a second language with good German skills

At SOSU Syd we educate the healthcare and social care workers of the future. Many of our students and participants bring multiple languages with them and are in the process of developing the Danish-language skills they need in training and in encounters with citizens, relatives and colleagues.

Therefore we are seeking an engaged DSA teacher with a start date 1 January 2027 or as agreed .

As a DSA teacher you help bridge everyday language, technical language and practice. You will have the opportunity to make a concrete difference in the learning of students and participants and to develop the language-pedagogical effort across the school. At the same time you will have the opportunity to bring your knowledge of German into teaching on the flexible social- and health care helper education.

What will you work with?

You will become a central part of our work on language across the education programs. Your primary tasks will be to:

• teach on the flexible social- and health care assistant program in German and Danish through continuing education programs for adult learning
• teach our multilingual students Danish as a second language in the SOSU programs
• work with subject-specific language and language support in close collaboration with the health profession and pedagogical instructors
• contribute to the development of the school's language-pedagogical initiatives and teaching materials
• support and follow up on language screenings and SPS support

Teaching is planned based on the students' and participants' prerequisites, with a focus on the language they will need in practice.

Who are you?

We expect that you

• have an education in Danish as a second language, or equivalent qualifications.
• master German at a level where you can conduct teaching and communicate confidently in the language.
• Can plan teaching for adults with diverse linguistic and professional backgrounds.
• Thrive in interdisciplinary collaboration and can translate academic concepts into understandable instruction.

It is an advantage if you

• have experience teaching multilingual students/participants, preferably from vocational education or adult and continuing education
• have knowledge or experience of the social and health sector.
• have experience with language-pedagogical development work and teaching materials.

About SOSU Syd

The Social and Health School South is a self-governing vocational education institution under the state with about 130 employees.

Salary and employment terms

Primary workplace is at the school's address in Aabenraa, as well as at Campus Ahlmann in Sønderborg. However, tasks at the school's four intake municipalities may occur.

The school uses private MitID for identification, which you must be prepared for.

You must provide your own car for external tasks. Travel reimbursement is provided according to the state rates.

In connection with the appointment to the position, a child and criminal record check will be obtained.

• Salary and employment conditions: In accordance with the applicable collective agreement for managers and teachers (SOSU) – CO10
