The training to become a dental clinic assistant alternates between practice at the clinic and school stays at a vocational school. We initially offer a one-year training agreement. It can also be a one-year agreement for you, who have already completed the first year in private practice, and now you want to try municipal dental care for the rest of your apprenticeship. Alternatively, you may have finished the basic program and be ready to start with us – preferably from January 1, 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The most important for us is that you want to become part of our Dental Care, where we place a high value on teamwork because we believe it is the way to maintain well-being in the Dental Care. You must enjoy being busy. And you must be ambitious in relation to your education and professional development. As a dental clinic assistant trainee you will learn, among other things

• Assist dentists and dental hygienists during treatments
• Prepare and clean treatment rooms and instruments
• Take X-ray images (after training and course)
• Receive and service patients
• Assist with administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling and record keeping

A little about us

The municipal dental care in Varde currently provides dental care to around 11,500 children and young people aged 0-21 years. We also have about 150 special dental care patients and social dental care patients and have brought home care dentistry on 1 March 2026.

Dental care is centralized in a large and modern clinic, and the Health Visitor Service and Family House are in the same building. We thus collaborate with the Health Visitor Service and Family House around Baby Café and Family Café. Dental care is fully digitized with electronic records (TK2) and digital X-ray (VisiQuick). We also use voice recognition.

We are at the forefront of many initiatives. For example, we have established an Acute Receiving Clinic (emergency room) staffed by our experienced clinical assistants, we hold mass screening days to keep the waiting list down, we have brought home anesthesia treatments from the Region, we carry out all our own surgery with our mobile surgeon as supervisor, and we have many more new initiatives on the drawing board.

We have very good opportunities for continuing and further education, and we like to hold courses for the entire staff group at our own clinic with external instructors, so continuing education is tailored to our needs.

The orthodontic task has been outsourced to a private operator who is housed together with Varde Municipal Dental Care, and there is widespread collaboration for the benefit of patients, parents and staff.

In Varde Municipal Dental Care we are, besides you, 10 treating dentists, 20 dental assistants, 1 dental assistant trainee, 3 administrative staff, 2 house assistants, 1 mobile surgeon, 1 mobile dental technician and 1 chief dentist. Orthodontics consists of 2 specialists, as well as 4 dental assistants.

Salary and terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment are negotiated according to the applicable collective agreement.

Start date 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.
