WE ARE LOOKING FOR INSTRUCTORS IN HANDICRAFT AND OLD HANDICRAFT TRADITIONS

Do you have good craft in your hands – and a desire to share your knowledge?

At Nordsjællands Aftenskole we have a special interest in old crafts and the traditions, techniques and skills that have been passed down through generations.

In a time when much is produced quickly and industrially, there is something truly special about working with your hands, immersing yourself in a material and experiencing the joy of creating something yourself.

We therefore want to expand our course offering in both traditional and contemporary crafts and are looking for dedicated teachers who want to share their know-how with others.

Maybe you master an old craft that deserves to be carried forward?

Which crafts are we looking for teachers for?

We are particularly interested in teachers within traditional crafts that can be carried out with relatively simple tools and without the need for larger specialized workshops.

For example, it could be

Wood and natural materials

• Wood carving
• Basketry and wickerwork
• Production of smaller utility objects in wood
• Traditional rope work and knotting

Textile and old craft traditions

• Embroidery and traditional Danish embroidery techniques
• Spinning of yarn and working with wool
• Felting and traditional felting techniques
• Traditional sewing
• Leather work and production of smaller leather products

Paper crafts and other traditions

• Bookbinding and traditional bookbinding techniques
• Paper crafts and paper cutting
• Marbling of paper and other decorative paper techniques
• Production of traditional Danish Christmas decorations
• Other old crafts and seasonally oriented craft traditions

And the list is certainly not exhaustive!

Perhaps you work with a particular craft that only a few people know today. Or perhaps you have an exciting idea for a course where ancient techniques are given new life.

We would love to hear from you – even if your craft is not on the list.

Since our teaching primarily takes place in ordinary teaching rooms and woodshop rooms, we are especially seeking crafts that can be carried out with simple hand tools and without larger specialized workshop facilities.

Who are you?

You have solid experience with a craft and a desire to share your knowledge with others.

You may be a trained craftsman, applied artist or master of a traditional trade. But you can also be self-taught and have built up a great knowledge and experience through many years of practical work.

You do not need to have a formal craft education to be considered.

The most important for us is that you

• Have strong professional skills and a passion for your craft.
• Want to teach others and share your experience.
• Can create a cozy, safe and inspiring atmosphere.
• Have patience and an eye for the participants' different prerequisites.
• Want to help preserve and pass on valuable craft traditions.

You do not necessarily need to have teaching experience. If you have the craft in your hands and the desire to convey it, we would very much like to talk with you about possibilities.

What can we offer?

Nordsjællands Aftenskole is an evolving evening school, and we place great emphasis on collaboration with our teachers.

We offer, among other things

• Opportunity to develop and plan your own courses.
• Great influence on the content and form of teaching.
• Opportunity for both short workshops, weekend courses and longer teaching programs.
• Teaching in Rudersdal, Hørsholm and Furesø municipalities.
• Help with course descriptions, marketing, registrations and practical planning.
• An inspiring teaching environment with room for new ideas.

We are particularly interested in weekend workshops where participants have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a craft and test techniques they may never have worked with before.

Salary and employment

You will be employed as a part-time teacher according to the applicable rules for teaching under the Folk High School Act.

The salary as of August 1, 2026 is

330.74 DKK per teaching lesson of 45 minutes.

Additionally 12.5% holiday pay, which in total corresponds to approximately 372.08 DKK per lesson including holiday pay .

The salary also includes preparation and other tasks related to teaching.

The extent, time and location of teaching are agreed individually. Any expenses for materials and special equipment are agreed in connection with the planning of the course.
