The VIA canteen at Campus N is seeking a qualified chef, caterer, or nutrition assistant for a permanent position

Are you passionate about creating flavorful meals using seasonal ingredients and high quality? The canteen at VIA University College Campus Aarhus N is seeking a qualified chef, caterer, or nutrition assistant who wants to become part of our dedicated kitchen team.

The position is a permanent role with start date 1 January 2027. You will be attached to the canteen at VIA Campus Aarhus N.

VIA’s canteen’s vision is to inspire and delight our customers with the food we serve based on the official dietary guidelines. We work purposefully for a more sustainable canteen operation, and we have the silver organic dining stamp.

The working hours are mainly Monday-Friday between 6:45 AM and 2:30 PM with a few weekend and evening shifts.

YOUR TASKS

You must be able to work in all kitchen functions; preparation of morning and lunch menus, guest service, hot, cold, baking, vegetables, pickling, sandwiches and preferably experience with fermentation. Serving and attending to customers and cleaning are of course part of the daily work.

VIA has 13 canteens that work together across with a common strategy, so there may also be opportunities for internship days in other VIA canteens.

YOUR COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

• You are trained as a chef/caterer or nutrition assistant and have experience from a similar position.
• You have a high level of professionalism and passion for the trade.
• You can work independently and responsibly as well as prioritize your own tasks.
• You have good organizational skills, work structured and have an excellent overview.
• You are service-minded, flexible, and passionate about making tasty healthy food with a sustainable focus.
• You are a team player and actively and knowingly contribute to a good working environment, and you are reliable in attendance.
• You smile easily and are good at communicating with customers and colleagues and prioritizing good hospitality.
• You are keen to teach colleagues and are self-motivated for ongoing learning and professional development.
• You are keen to work with a focus on sustainable canteen operation.

At VIA Campus Aarhus N we prepare meals for students on professional bachelor programs as well as for course participants and staff. The campus has 2,750 students and 650 employees, and the canteen has space for 500 guests. You will become part of a kitchen team of 15 full- and part-time employees with diverse professional backgrounds.

SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

Salary and employment terms are set according to applicable agreements and collective agreements. For skilled chefs and caterers, salary and employment terms follow the central agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Public Employees Organisation as well as the organization agreement for kitchen staff educated in the food sector. For nutrition assistants, the central agreement between the Ministry of Finance, CO10 and LC as well as the organization agreement for kitchen staff educated in the food sector applies

The position is a permanent full-time role with start date 1 January 2027.

The place of employment is VIA Campus Aarhus N, Hedeager 2, 8200 Aarhus N.
