VIA Socialrådgiveruddannelsen in Aarhus seeks a pedagogical leader for a newly established position with start date 1 February 2027

As an educational leader you will be the line manager for about 20 teachers, and you will be part of a management team consisting of two educational leaders and a program director, to whom you report. Together you are responsible for the quality, development and operation of the education. You will work closely with the other educational leader on the overall planning of the education, and in the management team you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the new leadership structure.

The new leadership position is established to strengthen the management capacity of the education and to create better conditions for present leadership, reliable operation and development of the education. The position thus has both an academic/professional and an operational focus, and you will among other things be responsible for calculating and allocating the teachers' hours.

An education in change

In March 2025, a political agreement was reached on reform of the professional bachelor and university college programs in Denmark, including the social work education.

The reform sets new requirements for the organization of the education. As an educational leader you will have the opportunity to contribute to that development, and we are curious to hear what you think about the future social work education and the managerial task of translating the reform's ambitions into practice.

About you and your tasks

We are foremost curious about you, your leadership style and your approach to the leadership role. It is necessary that you master balancing your leadership between being curious, exploratory and being able to step into character and make decisions that may divide opinions, but at the same time set direction.

We imagine that you

• Have an interest in social work and the desire to immerse yourself in the profession's practice and conditions
• Have experience with and interest in planning, coordination and operations, and thrive with administrative tasks and have strong skills in Excel and data handling
• Have experience from a higher education context and preferably leadership experience from the education sector
• Have a master's level or equivalent degree and have completed a leadership program or are motivated to undertake one

More about the tasks

As an educational leader you will among other things be responsible for

• Creating good conditions for an inclusive and inspiring study environment for the students in collaboration with the teachers
• Managing personnel leadership for about 20 teachers with different professional backgrounds, including conducting annual performance reviews
• Handling operational and planning tasks, including time allocation for teaching and preparing teachers' portfolios in close collaboration with the other educational leader
• Providing academic and pedagogical leadership of teachers and semester groups, including following up on teaching evaluations and quality measurements. The academic leadership is expected to be particularly directed at online education and the 5th–7th semester of the on-site program

About the social work education in Aarhus

The social work education at VIA is offered in Aarhus and Holstebro, hence close cross-campus collaboration. In Aarhus we have both on-site and online offerings.

In Aarhus we admit about 340 students annually distributed across the two offerings. We have about 1100 students.

We are about 40 teachers organized in semester groups. Two program coordinators and four study coordinators support the management with cross-cutting development and operations tasks.

Terms of Employment

Salary and employment terms are governed by the Agreement on Employment of Managers at institutions within teaching, education and research in the Ministry of Education and Research’s area.

The position has no fixed maximum working time.

Your main workplace is Campus Aarhus C, but you should expect that there may be activities throughout the Central Denmark Region.

The position is to be filled by February 1, 2027.

Interviews are expected to be held on November 26, 2026 and December 3, 2026.

Candidates advancing to a second interview must complete a test and solve a preparation task before the interview.
