We are seeking social- and health care assistant students with start in January 2027, and we are looking for you who want to learn, develop and make a difference for other people.

You do not need to be able to do everything from the start - that is precisely why you should be an apprentice.

The most important for us is that you want to work with people, are curious and ready to learn.

An education where you make a difference

As a social- and health care assistant student you will have a everyday life with both professionalism, responsibility, relationships and lots of learning .

The education alternates between school and on-the-job training, so what you learn at school you get the opportunity to try out in real life. And yes, you get paid during the entire training – a “good” salary.

The school teaching takes place at SOSU H in the capital region.

During the education you will rotate through different parts of the health and care sector, among other things:

• home care
• care centers
• hospital
• psychiatry

This means that you will have the opportunity to experience different workplaces and find out what interests you the most.

What does a social- and health care assistant actually do?

As a social- and health care assistant you are close to people and play an important role in their everyday life.

You learn, among other things, to work with basic nursing, medicines, rehabilitation, observation and health-related interventions , and you become an important part of the collaboration around the citizen or patient.

When you graduate, you become a authorized health professional , and there are very good opportunities for both jobs, specialisation and further education.

In short: You get an education with meaning and lots of opportunities afterwards.

The main course lasts as a rule 2 years, 9 months and 3 weeks – with possible crediting depending on the competencies you bring with you.

Admission requirements

To start the main course for the social- and health care assistant you must have passed Grundforløb 2 aimed at the social- and health care assistant education . Vallensbæk Municipality also offers you salary during the Grundforløbet.

The length of the education can vary depending on, among other things, your age, previous education and work experience. You can read more about the education, admission requirements, crediting and duration on SOSU H's website.

The education is organised with 37 hours per week.

In your on-the-job training periods you will predominantly have daytime shifts and weekend shifts. There will also be evening shifts in some of the training periods – this is part of the everyday life in the health and care sector.

Of course you will be paid during the training

Wages and terms of employment follow the applicable collective agreement between KL and the negotiating organisation.

Student pay as a social- and health care assistant student

Under 25 years 15,740 DKK per month

If you are over 25 years you can apply for adult student pay, which is about 26,294 DKK per month.
