About the job

At the Danish Defence Intelligence Service we are establishing a dedicated team to identify the most interesting electronic communication networks that FE’s SIGINT collection capabilities should be directed at. This position is aimed at you with a pioneering spirit who wants to leave your mark on the framework for SIGINT collection targeting.

You will have influence and room to develop

The team will be established in the Department for Electronic Intelligence (Signals Intelligence, SIGINT), where it, in close collaboration with the department’s other highly specialized competencies, must secure the best possible conditions for FE’s SIGINT collection to remain relevant in light of the intelligence needs.

The primary purpose of the team is to create an overview of FE’s possibilities for electronic collection and thereby ensure that FE collects against the right communication networks in light of the intelligence needs (targeting). Establishing this overview requires a cross-cutting and multidisciplinary effort, both within the team itself and with other teams, where the team’s outputs will help drive decision-making processes regarding the planning of the collection and the direction of development efforts.

Through various professional profiles, each team member contributes their piece to the overall puzzle of the technological landscape for communication networks and infrastructure, including market and technology trends and providers of infrastructure to land, sea and air.

The positions come with a high degree of influence over one’s own tasks and daily work, and we expect you to thrive with the responsibility for building the team’s own framework, including tasks, methods and tools – in light of the department’s strategic direction.

You and your background are important

Your formal education and professional experience are not decisive – the breadth of the team’s tasks calls for different professional profiles so that the team can succeed. You could be, for example:

  • Telecommunications engineer
  • Enterprise architect in communication technologies
  • Network specialist
  • Data analyst
  • OSINT researcher

We place emphasis on your education and experience enabling you to demonstrate competences in several of the following areas:

  • Strong knowledge of communication and infrastructure technologies, IP traffic, network protocols, tele- and satellite communication.
  • Industry knowledge and outreach
  • Experience with analysis of network traffic and data networks.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with other professional groups across the organization and understand and translate their needs into an collection context.
  • Ability to formulate clearly, both orally and in writing, in both Danish and English, including complex technical problems.

If you dream of becoming part of this newly established team and master many – but not all – of the qualifications listed for the position, we encourage you to submit an application.

Your new workplace

We place a large emphasis on social cohesion, supported by various arrangements such as a Friday bar and a board game café. You also have the opportunity to join different professional fora that run across the organization. We also have a sports association where you can engage in different kinds of exercise in the company of your colleagues.

As an employee in FE you are subject to some special terms. It is a requirement that you can obtain and maintain a security clearance during your entire employment. As in the rest of the Defence, you may be called upon for short-term deployments abroad if needed.
