About the job

Would you like to strengthen volunteering, create strong local communities and give residents greater influence on the development of Herredsvang?

We are seeking an engaged and proactive volunteer coordinator who can support residents' engagement, citizenship and participation in local communities. You will become part of the housing-social initiative in Herredsvang and take a central role in developing a sustainable volunteer culture where residents and local actors take initiative, responsibility and ownership of the area's development.

Part of the position is targeted at resident involvement in the development of Herredsvang's new urban space and the Culture and Health House. Here you will help ensure that residents' ideas, wishes and resources are translated into concrete influence and vibrant local communities.

Your main tasks

  • Involve, engage and support volunteers and local resource persons.
  • Initiate and create frameworks for resident-driven activities, communities and local initiatives.
  • Offer sparring, capacity development and recognition of volunteers.
  • Plan and facilitate citizen dialogues and involvement processes that give residents an active role in the area's development.
  • Strengthen cooperation between residents, associations, housing organizations, Aarhus Municipality and other local actors.
  • Support local communities, resident democracy and the Herredsvang Family Association.
  • Work purposefully to anchor responsibilities and activities locally, so volunteering and communities can endure in the long term.

You will work in a facilitating and capacity-building manner. This means you will not only create activities, but first and foremost help residents and local actors to take initiative themselves, develop competencies and drive communities.

We are looking for someone who

  • Has documented experience in engaging, involving and supporting volunteers – and in creating frameworks for volunteers' ownership and responsibility.
  • Has experience with citizen involvement, developing communities, association life or local community work.
  • Is good at building relationships, motivating people and bridging between different interests and actors.
  • Can plan and facilitate dialogues, processes and collaborations with many different participants.
  • Works independently and in a structured way and can translate ideas into concrete initiatives.
  • Has a sense of how volunteering, citizenship and local communities can be anchored sustainably.

Your educational background can be academic, social-science oriented or another relevant education. The most important are your experiences, your relational competencies and your ability to create engagement and local anchoring.

We offer

A meaningful position where you will have the opportunity to make a concrete difference for residents' participation, influence and communities in Herredsvang. You will become part of a local collaboration with residents, associations, housing organizations, Aarhus Municipality and other actors, where you have the opportunity to influence the development of both the volunteering effort and the area's new meeting places.

You will become part of an ambitious workplace with strong collegial cohesion, high professional standards and lots of helpfulness. We support and help each other in everyday work and value humor, an informal tone and good collegiality, while we work purposefully for strong and safe local communities.
