Water Planning Specialist

Your job

As a specialist in water planning you will be an important piece in the puzzle when we daily deliver drinking water to 179,000 consumers. Your analyses and calculations form the basis for the development and maintenance of more than a thousand kilometers of water mains, both now and in the long term.

With your insight into data and system models you help plan maintenance, operation and expansions on the water distribution network – in short, optimize the infrastructure.

Your tasks will include, for example

• Plan renovation and expansion of the pipeline network using IT tools such as Rehab-IT
• Perform hydraulic calculations for different scenarios of urban development
• Collaborate with project managers on, among other things, sectioning and sizing of new water projects
• Work with models for the distribution network (e.g., setting up AQUIS and EPANET models)
• Broaden the use of model tools, for example to improve leak detection

Your base is our office in Odense C.

Your colleagues

You will become part of a strong professional environment in our drinking water department, where you work closely with team leaders, project managers and project staff on waterworks projects.

You will also have good opportunities for specialist professional sparring with colleagues in VandCenter Syd's hydraulics team on the wastewater side.

About you

We are looking for someone who has experience with modelling of the distribution network – and a good understanding of a water utility's tasks in distributing drinking water.

We imagine that you have a relevant engineering background and/or experience from a similar job in the utility or consulting sector. If you already know tools such as Rehab-IT, EPANET or AQUIS, that’s a plus.

You should be good at collaborating and bridging across different disciplines, as your work sits right at the crossroads between planning, execution and operation. As a person you are structured and systematic, and you get a kick out of creating the technically interesting solutions to everyday challenges.
