AI is more than just technology; it is a development that affects both people and society across disciplines. Maybe you are interested in the technical aspects of machine learning and software development? Or do you see the potential in how AI and digital technologies can support decision-making processes, create more inclusive citizen communication, or change our understanding of workflows?

Become part of a thesis programme with a focus on technology, society and innovation With us you get a unique opportunity to join a thesis track where you will experience a large public authority from the inside and at the same time have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and the development of innovative solutions that can streamline workflows and support decisions – to the benefit of both employees and citizens.

Based on your interests and knowledge area, we will collectively find a technology area that you can dive into, develop and test through your thesis – all within a municipal context with a basis in organizational needs and citizen perspectives.

The thesis track will include, among other things

• Preparation of a thesis within the chosen technology area with a focus on municipal applications.
• A professional community with other thesis students in our “Tech Hub,” where there are office spaces if you want to sit together.
• Participation in testing and evaluation of new technological possibilities and solutions.
• Contribute ideas and proposals for how Vejle Municipality can adopt and implement new technologies in collaboration with the municipality's various departments and external partners.

Who are we?

You will become part of IT Operations & Support, which has a cross-cutting role in relation to the municipality's IT and digitisation work and a wide scope. We are a department that focuses on maintaining a good social environment, where you can participate in activities ranging from eSports, physical activities, or other social gatherings that are held on a regular basis. You will become an integrated part of the department with the possibility of a desk, equipment and an office you will share with the other thesis students.

Throughout the period you will also be assigned an internal supervisor in IT Operations & Support. The supervisor will be one of our IT architects. During the programme you will be able to get sparring on practical and professional issues from your supervisor.

A bit about you

We expect that you

• Are enrolled in a relevant master’s degree and will write your thesis in Spring 2027.
• Are independent, proactive and not afraid to take initiative
• Stick with tasks and can challenge the status quo
• Are motivated by learning and trying new things
• Have a strong interest in digitisation and new technologies (for example AI, NLP/LLM, IoT, Digital Twins, Computer Vision, etc.)

Employment terms

Your thesis work will take place in Spring 2027.

You will have a place in our “Tech Hub” together with other thesis students, which provides ample opportunity for sparring about both theses and student life in general. Together with you we will plan a programme that matches your wishes and needs as a group, including some joint activities during the thesis period.
