About the job
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated relief worker for two active 14-year-old twin boys with a family in Ringsted.
You do not need a pedagogical education, but you must have experience with children or youths with cognitive disabilities and special needs .
We are looking for someone who is calm, accommodating and clear in your approach. You should be able to create security, work in a structured way and handle situations where the children may react strongly.
The position averages 15.58 hours per week with a fixed shift pattern.
The family and the boys
The boys have Dravet syndrome and cognitive disabilities. They therefore need support, guidance and help in everyday life.
They are active and full of personality. They like PlayStation and Roblox, games, puzzles, music, TV and iPad.
They also participate in Lykkeliga handball and swimming. Here you will accompany them, and for swimming you must be ready to jump into the water.
You will be part of a fixed team of three staff members around the boys. In most shifts you will be two staff together.
The family is open and loving and places emphasis on a close and good collaboration around the boys and the task. In the home lives the family’s sweet and calm Labrador.
About the task
A large part of the job involves time with the boys. You should help create good and secure hours with activities, coziness and a recognizable structure.
The boys need clear boundaries, predictability and adults who can guide them through daily activities and transitions.
We work pedagogically with low arousal and various autism-pedagogical tools.
One of the boys can occasionally react with strong outward aggressive behavior when something becomes difficult. It requires that you can remain calm, read the situation and work to de-escalate conflicts with a clear and acknowledging approach.
It is therefore important that you have experience with pedagogical guidance and are used to adapting your approach to children and youths with special needs.
You also help with personal care. This can include toilet visits, bathing, brushing teeth, dressing and undressing and diapering in connection with sleep.
One of the boys is fed via PEG tube , and both boys have epilepsy. You will receive thorough training in tube feeding with PEG, epilepsy, seizures and seizure-preventing medications.
You do not need to have prior experience with health-related tasks.
Who are you?
We are looking for a staff member who already has experience with the target group and can contribute with presence, professional understanding and responsibility.
You can be a pedagogy student, have another relevant background or be unskilled with practical experience.
We expect that you
- have experience with children or youths with cognitive disabilities and special needs
- have knowledge of autism and experience with pedagogical guidance and structure
- can handle challenging and outwardly aggressive behavior in a calm and de-escalating way
- are clear, patient and good at creating secure relationships
- are accommodating and have a smile and laughter readily

- are comfortable with personal care
- have a driver's license and are open to driving the family's handicap bus with manual transmission
- are a non-smoker
- can see yourself in the job for at least one year.
It is important that you can combine your experience with a warm and caring approach. The good relationship with the boys is essential to succeed in the job.
