About the job

We are seeking a mathematics teacher for our group arrangement at Lille Værløse Skole, where students need adults who can combine strong subject-specific teaching with special educational understanding. Here you never stand alone with the task.

At Lille Værløse Skole we believe that good school days are created together. Not by one teacher alone behind a closed door, but by professional adults who help each other, share ideas, laugh together, take responsibility together and dare to speak up when something is difficult.

We have a diverse group of students, skilled colleagues and a daily life where both academic rigor, well-being and community fill the day. And yes — there are also days when the photocopier acts up, a student has forgotten their shoes, and the mathematics book has mysteriously disappeared. That’s how school life is too. We know that.

We are not a school where everything is finished, easy or perfect. But we are a school where we practice, help each other and take responsibility for both the children and one another.

About the position

We are seeking a teacher for a full-time position in the lower primary in a group arrangement class in year 2 with start 1 February 2027 and preferably earlier.

The position will, as a starting point, include

  • Mathematics and a partial class-teacher function in a lower primary class with mainly year-2 students
  • Class time for the year group
  • Other subjects that you need to have for year 2, which you will discuss with the Danish teacher and divide between you
  • Special educational work

You do not need to be able to do everything from day one. The most important is that you can create meaningful mathematics teaching for students with special needs, have special educational understanding and be motivated to succeed together with other professionals. With us, teaching is a collaborative task, not a solo project.

A bit about the team and the class

You will become part of a small team around a year-2 class, which we at our school call 0-3D2, as the class can also accommodate students from other year levels. This means you play an important role in the class community and in parent collaboration — but also that you stand alongside other adults around the task.

The class consists of students in need of special educational learning environments, clear structure, predictability and adults who can work relationally and support participation opportunities in both academic and social communities.

Your team consists of a Danish teacher and an educator, where you together will cover subjects, supervision and lunch breaks. You will always be at least two and sometimes three adults in the class, so you have the opportunity to differentiate academically, hold student conversations or other activities.

We want our new colleague to have experience teaching in a special educational environment, so one can step directly into the classroom and support the good academic development, incorporate the students’ perspectives, create communities and have ideas for the use of the physical learning space, participation and mastery, which are the school’s focal points this year.

We are looking for you who …

  • is a trained teacher with a major in mathematics
  • has special educational knowledge
  • recognizes that students come to mathematics with very different experiences and self-confidence
  • can create structure, calm and clear boundaries
  • thrives on relationships and classroom communities
  • can take on a shared class-teacher role
  • dare to be both clear, warm and curious in meeting the students
  • want to be part of a professional team collaboration where we make each other look good

What will you encounter with us?

You will meet a school that takes collaboration seriously. We have set aside a fixed afternoon for joint preparation across departments, and every week there is a team meeting where both the principal, educational guidance and a psychologist participate in a rotating schedule every 4-6 weeks for ongoing sparring and dialogue with the team and the general development of the focus areas being worked on in the municipality. In the shared preparation time, the management has an open door, so there is opportunity for ongoing sparring, small clarifications and joint problem-solving.

Team meetings are used for what actually matters: students, teaching, well-being, parent collaboration and joint agreements. Not only operations and calendar items.

As a new employee, in addition to close sparring with the team and the nearest department head, you will also be assigned a mentor who is in the department but comes from another team. The mentor’s task is to support you in starting at a new workplace.

This does not mean that all challenges disappear. But it does mean that we take them seriously and try to find good solutions together, and we believe that skilled teachers develop best in strong communities.

About Lille Værløse Skole

Lille Værløse Skole is a school with about 635 general students, 87 students in a group arrangement and 125 staff members.

We are organized into Child Environment (0th–4th grade) and Youth Environment (5th–9th grade), and we work to create a school where students become academically stronger and better at participating in communities.

We collaborate with the local community and industry, and we enjoy when teaching stretches beyond the classroom and when mathematics is not only about pages in a book but also about real life outside.

The school is a 10-minute walk from Værløse Station — and about 30 minutes by S-train from Nørreport.

The position is essentially full-time, but we also welcome applications from you who wish to work part-time.
