About the job

You will be part of Plan and Development in a socially and professionally strong colleague community, where a well-functioning collaboration both within the department and across Culture and Development is crucial to our success.

We have exciting and challenging projects as well as good colleagues ready to welcome you. We are looking for both you who want a taste of leadership, and you who are passionate about working with local planning and the many tasks connected to it.

Syddjurs Municipality is a workplace that prioritizes flexibility and efficiency. There is typically the possibility of 1-2 days of remote work per week, while the rest of the workweek is spent in good company with colleagues at the town hall in Ebeltoft. There is major development underway in Syddjurs Municipality, and the City Council has a strong focus on supporting this development, while ensuring it takes place in balance with nature, the landscape and local communities.

Therefore, over several years, extra resources have been prioritized for local planning. At the same time, our professional coordinator has received a new and exciting position.

The City Council has large ambitions for sustainable urban development. Therefore, we work with a thorough political startup of the projects, among other things through completing sustainability forms, preparing starter reports and project descriptions from developers. Citizen participation is highly prioritized in all planning processes, and you must therefore have a desire to work in an environment where both the City Council and the citizens of Syddjurs Municipality are active participants in the development of future projects.

Who are we?

The Department for Planning and Development consists of 15 permanent employees with different professional backgrounds. We handle a wide range of tasks within physical planning, including municipal planning, structure plans, local plans as well as larger urban development projects.

With us you will receive clear frameworks to participate in interdisciplinary collaboration with your colleagues. We support each other weekly in handling each other’s tasks through joint sparring and knowledge sharing, and we are united in developing the department’s workflows and our professional approach to urban development. You can read more about our local planning process

on our website.

In daily life you will have a broad contact interface, both internally to the many professional staff in the administration and externally to developers, builders and citizens. You will have the opportunity to follow and take responsibility for all parts of the planning process, from the initial strategic considerations and dialogue with builders and developers to the final local plan that sets the framework for our physical surroundings.

Profile for the Professional Coordinator

The professional coordinator has three main functions

  • Support the leader, among other things by preparing for and participating in the initial meetings with developers as well as distributing and coordinating tasks in the local planning team.
  • Ensure that the local planning team works with common professional standards and consistent practice, as well as hold the weekly planning professional meetings.
  • Ensure a good dialogue with the other departments in Culture and Development about existing and changed internal and external consultations as well as procedures.

You're not necessarily executing all responsibilities under points 2 and 3, but you are responsible for ensuring that tasks are completed, and you have a mandate to set the professional direction. The direction is typically determined based on dialogue and joint discussions at the planning professional meetings and in dialogue with the manager. You may of course have experience with formal or informal leadership, but the most important is that you want to take on the role. You will not have personnel or budget responsibility.

The position as professional coordinator is expected to occupy about 50 percent of a 37-hour workweek. The remaining time is used as project leader on your own plans on equal terms with the department's other employees.

As part of the position you are offered to complete The Public Leadership Education, but in the first instance this will not be a requirement.

There are currently 8-10 employees in the department who work with local planning. The number varies depending on the tasks and initiatives that the City Council prioritizes.

  • have the ability and willingness to collaborate with and service different stakeholders, including citizens, companies, authorities and colleagues across the organization, so that holistic solutions and high-quality urban development are created.

  • be proactive and willing to contribute with new perspectives and ideas.

  • have good written and oral communication skills.
  • be flexible and good at planning and prioritizing your work time.
