About the job

South-East Jutland Police

Would you like to be part of a department that investigates and curbs a form of crime that is increasing? Would you like to help hold perpetrators of financial crime accountable for their offenses? Are you good at creating an overview and seeing connections in often complex material relating to financial issues?

Then you are exactly who we are looking for at the South-East Jutland Police.

You will be working in a cross-disciplinary and dynamic environment in the Investigation Center for Economic Crime at the South-East Jutland Police in Horsens. You will collaborate with other police sections and the prosecuting authority as well as external partners such as the Tax Agency. You will become part of a team of skilled and dedicated investigators and consultants with a focus on professionalism and quality. We place emphasis on maintaining a good and informal working environment.

In the Investigation Center for Economic Crime we work with a variety of case types—from less complicated cases of fraud to complex investigations of great societal importance. These can include cases related to tax and VAT, insolvencies, fraud, money laundering and other forms of crime directed at both society and citizens.

You will be trained in the police case management systems, after which you, either independently or as part of a team, will be responsible for the investigation of a given case. If we together find it relevant, there is the possibility of an individual education program, where after participating in the police’s internal training you can become a civilian investigator. As a civilian investigator you will receive police authority and the opportunity to come even closer to the investigation by, e.g., participating in searches and conducting interviews and indictments of perpetrators.

Tasks

Your tasks will depend on the specific competencies you contribute with, but they can include:

  • Analysis of accounts, corporate and tax affairs, etc.
  • Preparation of reports to document the investigative steps you and your colleagues take
  • Contribute to triage of reports of economic crime
  • Financial analyses and collection of evidence
  • Assist in interviews and handling of criminal cases in court
  • Cash flow analysis
  • Participate in other investigations where economic crime is part of the investigation
  • Collaboration across the organization with police and the prosecution service.

You

You have a relevant academic background that can contribute to the investigation of economic crime. This could be in accounting, auditing, IT, taxation or financial law. It is an advantage, but not a requirement, to have practical experience from the financial sector, finance/accounting departments, authorities or the like. If you have knowledge and experience in cryptocurrency, that is an advantage.

It is a condition for employment that you have experience with using Excel as well as various types of IT support, just as in the longer term it will be an advantage that you have an interest in or competencies within operations and project management.

In addition, we place importance on

  • You have strong analytical skills and an interest in investigations
  • You are detail-oriented, even when you have many tasks going on at the same time
  • You are adaptable and eager to work in close cross-disciplinary collaboration
  • You are good at communicating complicated material
  • You have a basic understanding of accounting principles and methods
  • You are good at communicating both verbally and in writing
  • You are quick to learn and eager to develop your new skills, as well as contribute to the development and optimization of existing processes
  • You thrive in collaboration with colleagues, but at the same time are able to work independently on your tasks

Salary and terms of employment

This is a full-time position of 37 hours per week. The Investigation Center for Economic Crime has divisions in Vejle and Horsens. Your primary place of work will be Horsens – if the task solution requires it, your workplace may temporarily be in Vejle.

If you have an academic background, you will be employed under collective agreements in accordance with the current agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the central organization for academics. If you have another educational background, you will be employed under another relevant collective agreement. If you are already employed as a civil servant in the police or the Ministry of Justice, you may retain this form of employment.

It is a condition for employment that you and any spouse/partner can obtain a security clearance, just as you must be able to maintain the security clearance throughout the entire employment.

Start of employment will be by agreement.

Contact and application

If you have questions about the position, you are welcome to contact Police Inspector Mikkel Oliel-Secher at +45 30 30 59 92 (leave a message or send a text message if the call is not answered, then you will be contacted).

When you apply for a position with the police, you also create a profile in our recruitment system. If you apply for multiple positions with the police, you must submit an application and a CV for each position in the system. We recommend naming your documents so it is clear which position you are applying for.

We encourage all interested to apply regardless of gender, age, religion or ethnic origin.

Application deadline: Sunday, October 18.

Interviews will be held in week 44.
