About the job

The outpatient department is an exciting workplace, where there is both opportunity to work broadly, but also for deepening in specialty areas. We are an engaged and motivated staff with a focus on knowledge sharing and development.

The outpatient department is an independent clinic with about 2500 diabetes patients.

We are 4 dietitians, 4 bioanalysts, 20 nurses, 12 specialists and 10 secretaries. In addition, HU doctors and junior doctors.

We get along well socially and are a group that is broadly represented in terms of both age and gender.

Do you have a knack for technology?

Diabetes is an area in rapid development, where especially the technological aspect is gaining more and more importance for patients' care and treatment. Therefore we are looking for a nurse who wants to become proficient in all facets within diabetes - and who is willing to dive into juggling sensors, pumps, apps and much more.

You will join a program that gradually builds your competencies, partly by attending various courses, but also by entering into close collaboration with an experienced colleague as mentor.

The work in the outpatient department is combined with shifts in a medical ward at Kolding Hospital, and you can help decide which ward it should be. It will typically involve 8-hour daytime shifts every 3rd weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but we strive to be flexible if you have particular wishes regarding a specialty, or if there are special considerations in relation to balancing work life and private life for you.

In our outpatient department we handle

  • Patient pathways with Type 1 diabetes, insulin pump therapy, complex Type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, patients with metabolic disorders and osteoporosis
  • Independent nurse consultations
  • Joint day screening, including eye and foot screening
  • Interdisciplinary teamwork
  • Coordination of patient pathways, information and development of workflows
  • Collaboration on diabetes patients with municipalities
  • Across-department role as diabetes nurse at Kolding Hospital
  • Education of nursing students on years 3, 6 and 7 and students from abroad

We seek nurses who

  • Are eager to develop their nursing alongside us and create good frameworks so that we can each day provide good nursing to the patients
  • Are keen to work focused on becoming proficient in the diabetes specialty and eventually be able to handle complex patients with sensors and pumps
  • Have outpatient experience - preferably within the specialty
  • Have good collaboration skills and are motivated to join a dynamic team where dialogue and a sense of responsibility are the keywords
  • Want to gain competencies to be able to handle nursing tasks for both ambulatory and inpatient patients
  • See a benefit in being able to work across the outpatient and ward to create coherence in patient pathways

We have an individually tailored introduction program, where we base on your exact prerequisites and qualifications.
