About the job

Knuthenborg Safaripark is seeking a zookeeper for our savannah team, where you will be part of the daily care and development around the park's animals.

On the savannah team we work with, among others, giraffes, eland antelopes, black hartebeests, wildebeest, ostriches, goats and donkeys.

If you have experience with savanna animals or other of the above species, it is a clear advantage - but most important is that you have a strong professional interest in the animals and a desire to develop within the work with the animals.

Your daily life with us

As a zookeeper on the savannah team you, together with your colleagues, will be responsible for the daily care and welfare of the animals. The work includes, among other things, feeding, cleaning, observation, enrichment and training, as well as ongoing development of the animals' enclosures and daily life.

You should be keen to get to know each animal and be curious about how we can continually develop our work and create the best possible surroundings for them.

Knuthenborg is a park in constant development. Therefore you will not only be part of the daily operations - we also expect you to contribute ideas and participate in the development of our animal collection and facilities.

We are looking for someone who

  • is trained as a zookeeper
  • has experience with or strong interest in savanna animals
  • has a strong focus on animal welfare and safety
  • are interested in behavior, enrichment and training
  • can work independently and at the same time thrive in a team
  • is flexible and can keep an overview when the day's plans change
  • takes responsibility and sees the tasks that need to be solved
  • contributes positively to collaboration in the department.

If you have experience with larger machinery, it is an advantage.

We help each other

You will become part of our animal department with 15 staff, where teamwork is an important part of daily life.

Although you will be assigned to the savannah team, we are a single animal department. We help each other across when there is a need, and we expect you to have the same approach.

No two days are the same at Knuthenborg. You may come in with a clear plan for the day and experience that animals, weather or other unforeseen tasks completely change it. It is part of the job - and part of what makes daily life in a safari park truly special.

You also become part of the guests' experience

Our guests are an important part of Knuthenborg, and as a zookeeper you meet them close to the animals.

Therefore you should be eager to communicate about the animals in an engaging and easy-to-understand way to both children and adults and be able to tell about their behavior, biology and the way we work with them.

We work according to Knuthenborg's values: professionalism, integrity and hospitality, and we expect these to be felt in the way you meet both animals, colleagues and guests.

A somewhat different workplace

The position is full-time with a shift every 3rd weekend.

In return you will get a workplace that does not resemble many others. You will work in the middle of Northern Europe’s largest safari park with exciting animals, engaged colleagues and the opportunity for you to have influence on development.

With us, ideas can quickly become reality, and good ideas are welcome to become tangible.
