Are you looking for a flexible part-time job? Become an hourly-paid on-call veterinarian in Meat Control at the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration

The Meat Control is continually seeking on-call substitutes as veterinarians for temporary, transient tasks, i.e. a few days or weeks at ad hoc arising needs, such as when permanent staff are sick or on vacation.

To apply for a position as an on-call veterinarian substitute at the Meat Control, you must be a trained veterinarian and hold Danish authorization.

What are the terms?

The working hours are agreed concretely at each call-out and will vary depending on need and location. You are never obligated to undertake the work you are offered and you can always choose to decline the offered work. After the day’s work ends you depart, and the employment relationship is considered terminated.

Compensation as on-call substitute

You will be paid according to the 1992 agreement on remuneration for meat control assistance settled per hour, entered into between the Danish Veterinary Association and the Danish Veterinary Authority’s veterinarians at export slaughterhouses, etc., as well as the protocol to the collective agreement for academics in the state regarding (formerly) the Danish Food, Agriculture and Fisheries Agency’s veterinarians at export slaughterhouses, etc.

Please note that pay is calculated in whole hours, but allowances (the individual hourly rates for work in different time periods) are provided with the correct duration within the rate with rounding up on the last hour.

The position is paid at the following hourly rates

Hourly rate from 06-17 on weekdays: Current rate DKK 479.24 (level 01 April 2026).

Hourly rate from 17-22 on weekdays: Current rate DKK 718.86 (level 01 April 2026).

Hourly rates from 22-06 on weekdays, Saturdays, after 14:00 as well as Sundays and holidays:

Current rate DKK 958.48 (level 01 April 2026).

You may be asked in connection with an agreed call-out to perform work beyond 9 hours daily. If this occurs, a surcharge of 20% of the current rate 0 per started hour beyond 9 hours of daily work is paid.

Wages are paid monthly in arrears in the following month via your NemKonto with deduction of tax, ATP, etc.

You are entitled to holiday allowance of 12.5%. Depending on a concrete assessment you may be covered by the rules on special holidays.
