About the job

Do you want to lead holistic care with self-determination, trust, and presence?

Holbæk Municipality is seeking a Area Manager for Home Care and Nursing, Area Land

As area manager and as the leader of seven district managers, you will have the opportunity to stand clearly in your own leadership space, succeed in close partnership, and help create a home care and nursing service that makes a noticeable difference for the citizens.

The Home Care and Nursing in Holbæk Municipality is organized into two areas: Town and Country. As Area Manager for Area Land you will have overall leadership responsibility for a geographically dispersed organization on 5 sites. You must set clear direction and ensure that good citizen pathways, stable operations, high professional quality, financial accountability, and a sustainable working environment go hand in hand.

You will become the leader of leaders and you will be responsible for creating the necessary frameworks, priorities, and the managerial latitude so that the districts can succeed in their tasks and take responsibility for daily operations and development.

You will be part of the strategic management group in Older People and Health with a total of 7 area managers and a chief. The Area Manager for Area Town will be your closest managerial partner, and together with the rest of the leadership team you must ensure a common direction, strong coherence, and holistic solutions.

Common compass - Holbæk Municipality's Citizen View

Holbæk Municipality's citizen view takes its starting point in the fact that citizens and their networks are active collaborators. We base ourselves on strengths and resources, meet citizens with respect and curiosity, make the dialogue deliberate, and work across boundaries. Citizens should experience a single municipality.

From citizen view to everyday life – hand in hand with the Elderly Act

The citizen view must not only be readable. It must be felt. In the way we meet the citizen, in the professional choices we make, and in how the help coheres. As Area Manager you must create the framework for the citizen's wishes, resources, and self-determination to have real significance in everyday life – also when the solution requires us to work across professional disciplines, organizational boundaries and collaboration with civil society.

At the same time you must contribute to Holbæk Municipality's overarching ambition to be a good place to be for citizens and employees. In home care and nursing you should particularly focus on high quality and coherence for citizens, sustainable frameworks and development opportunities for employees, as well as professional collaborations both internally and externally.

Leadership partnership - duo leadership

The home care and nursing service must hang together, even when geography and daily operations differ. Therefore you must be able to engage in a close, equal, and binding partnership with the Area Manager for Area Town. You will share knowledge, coordinate priorities and solutions, and a common direction that crosses boundaries. You each have your own responsibilities and mandate for your own area, but share responsibility for the overall home care and nursing service.

Your main tasks

  • To translate the Elderly Act, holistic care, health reform and citizen view into concrete leadership and everyday practice with the citizen's self-determination and a good workplace at the center.
  • To ensure stable operations with high professional quality, patient safety, compliance with the law, and timely financial follow-up.
  • To be clear and visible and work purposefully for a good and healthy working environment.
  • To develop a strong leadership team that dares to lead, prioritize, and take responsibility close to operations.
  • To make cross-cut collaboration work in practice so the citizen experiences coherence rather than organizational boundaries.
  • To strengthen recruitment, retention, presence, and competencies.
  • To use data, inspections, incidents and feedback for learning and improvement.
  • To develop professional collaborations with civil society, suppliers, the region, educational institutions and other actors.

What we are looking for?

We are looking for an ambitious, clear, and strategic leader who can and will take on leadership. You set direction, create followers, can translate goals and reform requirements into concrete practice. You have an eye for quality, economy, working environment and results and can maintain balance when concerns pull in different directions.

You do not need to have answers to everything. But you must be curious enough to ask, brave enough to decide, and persistent enough to follow through on decisions. You meet people with respect and curiosity and are focused on understanding perspectives before choosing a solution. You are also a generous and robust collaborative partner who wants to succeed together with others – with district leaders, your partner in Area Town and the rest of the strategic leadership group, other core areas, etc.

Who are you?

Your educational path can be different. The important thing is that you have professional depth, leadership experience and can stand firmly in a complex municipal world. We envision that you:

  • Have a relevant health or social work education and a leadership education at diploma level or equivalent
  • Have experience leading other leaders or are ready for the next leadership level
  • Have experience with financial management, quality, working environment and organizational changes
  • Have good communication skills and communicate respectfully, curiously and clearly with citizens, employees and partners.

What you get with us

With us you do not only get the responsibility for a large operations area. You also get the opportunity to leave your mark on how the future home care and nursing should look in Holbæk Municipality. You will become part of a close leadership community with the Area Manager for Area Town and simultaneously enter into a binding collaboration with the strategic leadership group, which consists of seven leaders and the chief of Older People and Health.

You will have a boss who expects pushback, accountability and open dialogue, as well as skilled leaders and employees with broad knowledge about citizens, professionalism and local communities. You will become part of an organization with a clear citizen view and a shared ambition for citizens, employees and companies, and we will work hard to give you a thorough introduction.
