About the job

We are looking for a new colleague to take care of the management of the municipal areas.

About the job

As an area manager you have an important role in the work with the municipal areas that are part of lease or letting agreements.

You will assume the owner role in relation to concrete tasks to be carried out on the areas you are responsible for.

The work takes place in collaboration with both our construction/operational department and colleagues in other departments.

You should

  • be responsible for the use of the municipality’s land, from small areas in urban areas to large field areas
  • handle cadastral cases, lease agreements, tenancy agreements, prescription matters, utility line cases, etc.
  • collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including lessors, contract holders and authorities
  • manage the financial control of your own budget for the management of the municipal areas
  • be part of a cross-functional working group that coordinates tasks related to municipally owned areas across the entire municipality.

About you

You have a relevant background where you have built knowledge of area management. Perhaps you are an agrarian technologist, a forest and landscape engineer, a land surveyor or similar – and you have experience with or a desire to work in a municipal administration.

  • You thrive with a broad task portfolio including routine tasks as well as challenging tasks - and tasks with short deadlines
  • You thrive in a job with many diverse tasks and many inquiries
  • You are structured, efficient and take responsibility to deliver on time
  • You take responsibility and show initiative. This also means that you are good at planning your own time and tasks, and that you naturally coordinate your own tasks with other colleagues’ tasks and schedules
  • You should find it natural to ask if there is something you do not know – and to help a colleague who needs your help
  • You are good at building relationships, are positive and thrive in a busy and informal work environment.

More concretely, you have the following qualifications

  • You have some knowledge of farming and understanding of handling municipal areas
  • You have financial understanding, including budgeting and financial management.
  • You are skilled at communicating both verbally and in writing ‘with the citizen at the center’, and at forming good relationships
  • You are pragmatic, meet people at eye level and are good at handling and solving conflicts, where you are able to put yourself in their place
  • It would be an advantage for you to have knowledge of the municipal sector, municipal planning, legislation, culture and political processes, but it is not a requirement.

You have a driving license (category B), as the position involves travel to external parties.

We offer

  • an inspiring and challenging everyday life with experienced and engaged colleagues
  • a workplace with focus on collaboration and good colleagues
  • a very broad network within and outside the organization
  • flexible working hours and a health scheme.

About us

You will become part of Water and Nature, which is part of Plan, Technology and Environment. We prioritise collaboration, knowledge sharing and well-being – and we have an informal tone and a strong influence on your own tasks. You will have a daily life with both professional challenges and room for development – and the opportunity to help shape the use of municipal areas in Skanderborg Municipality.

We work in Plan, Technology and Environment based on our common values

  • Professional, efficient and solution-oriented approach
  • Holistic
  • The Common We.

Core task for Plan, Technology and Environment

  • We work to ensure that the Council’s political goals are fulfilled
  • We manage and develop Skanderborg Municipality’s towns, infrastructure and nature, to create Denmark’s most beautiful and greenest municipality
  • We perform efficient, solution-oriented and well-coordinated authority handling, so citizens and businesses can turn their wishes into reality – without harming others
  • We are happy, capable and efficient employees and leaders, with strong shared values. We value each other as well as good and valuable collaboration.

About Skanderborg Municipality

Skanderborg Municipality is an attractive, beautiful and well-located municipality. We experience strong growth and interest in building, living and doing business in the municipality. We therefore expect to reach around 70,000 inhabitants in the coming years, which means an increasing need for planning for housing, institutions and businesses.

The climate agenda is politically high priority and affects all tasks both directly and indirectly. This can, for example, be in the form of large solar parks that must be planned for, requirements for ecological and pesticide-free operation of the municipality’s areas and much more.

Under the motto “People meet people in Denmark’s most beautiful municipality” we meet each other at eye level, with the aim of creating beautiful and well-functioning frameworks for the good life and balanced growth in the municipality’s towns and villages.
