Surveyor for earthworks and construction work

Do you like the versatility of practical surveying on the construction site and the subsequent work with delving into data, calculations and documentation?

As a land surveyor at Gustav H. Christensen, you can look forward to a everyday life where practical surveying goes hand in hand with the work behind the screen. Here, data is processed, quantities calculated and the documentation put in place.

You will have a fixed base at the office in Snejbjerg, but will spend a large part of your time at various construction sites, mainly in Jutland. You will become part of the project team and work closely with project managers and colleagues on the sites. Together with your surveying colleague, you will be responsible for taking care of the practical measurements as well as the data-heavy part of the job, where deep analysis and structure are crucial.

Your tasks

The tasks vary according to the size and nature of the projects and can be adapted to your experience and professional background. You will among other things be working with:

• Surveying and geodetic tasks on construction sites
• Collaboration and coordination with your own project team, as well as other site managers to ensure correct execution
• GPS and preparation of data for machine control
• Drone surveying
• Handling and processing of measurement data
• Volume calculations
• Work with CAD files and various data and file formats
• Prepare documentation, calculations and data processing in connection with surveying tasks

When you are out on the projects, the workday will typically be a combination of practical surveying and the subsequent work with data, calculations and documentation from the construction site’s office facilities.

Who are you?

Your path into the job can vary. You may be a trained land surveyor, cartography and surveying technician or have another construction-technical background, e.g. as a building constructor with an interest in surveying, GPS and machine control. If you bring several years of experience from a similar position, your educational background will be less decisive.

The most important is that you thrive with the whole task and take responsibility for the processes from start to finish. To succeed in the job you must be able to collaborate with many different colleagues and at the same time be clear about what you need from others to move forward with your work.

You have a good IT understanding and are familiar with CAD and different file types – it is not essential that you already know the programs and the equipment used in the company.

Entreprenørfirmaet Gustav H. Christensen A/S was founded in 1974, where the tasks primarily consisted of land development and smaller road works. One of the larger tasks was to help expand the highway from Tjørring and into Herning.

At the beginning of 1982 there were about 20 employees in the company. Today there are about 80 employees, and when needed, capacity is expanded through collaboration with competent subcontractors.
