About the job
ARoS seeks
registrar and collections coordinator
Would you like to help preserve, document and develop one of Denmark's most important art collections?
Your role
As registrar and collection coordinator you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks related to ARoS' art collection, library and archives.
You will play a central role in ensuring high quality in the museum's collection data and documentation, as well as in coordinating acquisitions, loans and depository transfers. At the same time, you will contribute to developing and optimizing the museum's workflows and ensuring that new knowledge about the collection is continuously registered and made accessible.
The position combines professional depth with practical and administrative coordination and requires you to be able to create an overview, prioritise and collaborate across different disciplines.
You report to the head of collection and exhibition administration and work closely with the museum's curators, Art Conservation, technical staff and external partners.
The position's key areas of responsibility
Registration and collection documentation
- Registration, maintenance and quality control of collection data in SARA and the museum's other documentation and records systems, including provenance, exhibition and loan history, conservation history and image documentation.
- Maintenance and further development of ARoS' public collection database.
- Contribute to collection revision, reporting and the preparation of collection-related data and statistics.
Loans, acquisitions and depositories
- Coordination and administration of national and international loans from the museum's collection, including loan agreements, facility reports, insurance and art transport in collaboration with transporters, conservators and receiving institutions.
- Coordination of reception, registration and documentation of newly acquired and deposited works.
- Administration and supervision of deposits in and out.
Preservation and collection development
- Responsible for planning of collection reviews and preservation-related tasks in collaboration with Art Conservation.
- Ensuring that new research and knowledge about the collection's works is integrated into the museum's collection documentation.
- Coordination of smaller collection exhibitions and collection-related projects, including research, documentation, and work logistics.
Library and archives
- Coordination of the day-to-day operation of the museum's art-technical library and archives, including digitisation and cataloguing of archive material.
- Servicing internal and external researchers, curators and other users of the library's and archive's resources.
- Training and professional sparring with student assistants and archive staff.
Your profile
We are looking for someone who has an eye for both detail and the bigger picture, and who thrives at the intersection of art, collection management, documentation and coordination. You enjoy tasks where thoroughness makes a real difference. You work methodically, keep an overview of details and follow up tasks to completion. At the same time you understand that good registrations and well-functioning processes create value for many different colleagues and for the museum's overall work.
You take responsibility for the quality of your work and obtain the necessary information before making decisions. You collaborate in a friendly and professional manner, communicate clearly and can build trust in collaboration with colleagues from different disciplines.
Your qualifications
- You have a relevant advanced degree in, for example, art history, museology, information science, conservation or a related field.
- You have strong digital competencies and experience with registration in SARA, archive and library work or similar documentation and coordination tasks, preferably from an art museum or another cultural institution.
- You can work structurally with data, written material and administrative processes.
- You understand the importance of correct and consistent information in the work with artworks and collections.
- You are thorough, work independently and are responsible and good at prioritising in a day with several parallel tasks.
- You thrive in cross-disciplinary collaboration and can communicate professionally with both internal and external partners.
- You are proficient in Danish and English at a high level, both spoken and written.
- It would be an advantage if you have experience with international art loans and logistics.
We offer
- A meaningful role with responsibility for an important foundation in the museum's work with art and the collection.
- Opportunity to apply your professional expertise at the intersection of registration, coordination and knowledge development.
- A collaborative working environment where different disciplines contribute to common goals.
- Opportunity for professional development through tasks that require insight, care and ongoing collaboration.
The position is a full-time role at 37 hours per week. You report to the Head of Collection and Exhibition Administration, Anne Mette Thomsen.
