Senior DB2 Engineer

Bankdata develops and operates IT solutions that are central to the Danish financial sector. We are behind the technical infrastructure that keeps daily financial operations running – from transactions and compliance to the systems that support the business of financial institutions.

Mainframe is one of Bankdata's most business-critical platforms, and we are currently in a period where the area has extra strategic importance and attention, both because it has been decided that mainframe will be a central part of Bankdata's future, which must be developed further, and because over the next years two new banks will be integrated. The platform is the foundation for some of the most critical transaction and data solutions in Danish finance.

Bankdata is in the midst of an exciting development of the area and therefore seeks an experienced Senior DB2 Engineer who can take technical responsibility for the DB2 installation and help shape the platform's future.

About the role

As our new DB2 specialist you will become a key person in a small, highly specialized team. You will be responsible for ensuring, optimizing and further developing DB2 on z/OS and will get close to architecture, performance, operations and automation.

You will become part of the Mainframe Infrastructure team, which consists of 5 colleagues with very deep mainframe experience. The team works closely together, shares knowledge and expects you to contribute actively to dialogue, sparring and problem solving. You will be the primary subject matter expert on DB2 – and therefore the one the organization seeks guidance from.

What you will be working with

Your daily work will range from deep technical tuning to strategic dialogues about the platform's development. You will have a role with great influence – both technically and in terms of how Bankdata uses mainframe in the future.

You will, among other things, work with

• tuning and optimization of SQL and COBOL workloads
• analysis of performance, capacity and behavior in DB2
• automation and scripting, e.g. with REXX and AI tools
• secure, robust and monitored integration between the on-prem mainframe ecosystem and public cloud
• collaboration with developers and architects on good solutions
• backup/recovery and contribute to Disaster Recovery plans, upgrades and migrations
• dialog with JN Data about operations, stability and capacity
• technical design decisions and best practices across the organization

Your first time

In the first months you will get to know our mainframe landscape and become integrated into the team's close collaboration. You will quickly dive into concrete performance tasks and gradually begin to influence how the team works with optimization, architecture and automation.

Who are you?

You are an experienced mainframe specialist with deep knowledge of DB2 on z/OS. You can work independently, communicate clearly and thrive in the role of technical expert.

We imagine that you have

• solid experience with DB2 on z/OS
• strong skills in performance tuning and SQL optimization
• experience with scripting (preferably REXX)
• interest in automation and AI-supported tools
• desire to advise and collaborate with developers and architects

The team and the culture

You will become part of a small, experienced and informal team with strong cohesion. The team shares knowledge, helps each other and has a culture where both technical depth and curiosity are at the forefront.

The team is primarily based in the office in Fredericia, and we would like you to be physically present often as well. There is flexibility and 1–2 remote work days per week. For the right candidate a hybrid model with partial presence can be agreed.
