Become a pedagogical assistant apprentice (EUX line) – and help make a difference!

As an educational assistant apprentice on the EUX education you get an education that opens the door to a meaningful working life, where you every day contribute to children, youths or adults thriving, learning and developing. In the program you alternate between school and on-the-job training periods. In the school periods you attend SOSU Østjylland in Aarhus N, and in the training periods you work in one of Aarhus Municipality's day-care institutions or SFOs, where you gain practical experience with the tasks an educational assistant performs.

Admission requirements

To be able to start on the EUX education, you must meet the formal requirements for the educational assistant education. The requirements vary depending on age and work experience.

At minimum you must have completed Grundforløb 2 for the educational assistant program before you start the main part of the EUX education, and you must have an Education Plan (real competence assessment RKV), prepared by the school where you completed Grundforløb 2.

Children and Youth in Aarhus Municipality are also currently seeking educational assistant apprentices for the EUD main course starting in January 2027 and apprentices for starting Grundforløb 2 in the educational assistant education starting February 2027. Employment, training and school

When you are employed as an educational assistant apprentice, you enter an education agreement with a day care facility in Aarhus Municipality. The employment is 37 hours per week. During your education you will be about half the time at SOSU Østjylland in Aarhus N.

EUX students must undergo training 2 times during the main course of the education in a day-care institution or SFO. The first training period will always be in a day-care institution. The training sites are geographically located in different places across Aarhus Municipality, therefore you should expect travel time to your training site.

When applying for the position, please indicate whether you want a training place in Aarhus North, Aarhus City Center or Aarhus South.

Salary and terms of employment

The apprentice education is covered by the collective agreement for preschool assistants and pedagogical assistants.

Salary at present time

• Student wage approx. 13,500 DKK per month
• Adult student wage (over 25 years) approx. 26,200 DKK per month

Wages are regularly adjusted in accordance with the collective agreement.

Weekly hours: 37

You have a 3-month probation period in the employment. The probation period starts the day you begin in the first training period.

This is a fixed-term position from February 9, 2027 until the main training is completed.

The position is at all times contingent on a satisfactory public criminal record and an unblemished child certificate.
