About the job

Would you like to help create the best framework for the after-school pedagogical work and the children’s entire school day – then you are the one we are looking for for our SFO!

The position is for you who are motivated to create safe, meaningful and developmental frameworks for children’s leisure time and entire school life – and who see the value in inclusive play and community.

Position 1 is permanent and due to a colleague’s relocation to another region. Weekly hours by agreement, preferably 37 hours. You will be attached to the 2nd grade

Position 2 is a one-year maternity cover. Weekly hours by agreement, preferably 37 hours. Here it is still unknown which grade the position will be placed in.

Both positions start 1.1.2027

Please state in your application which position you are interested in. Also feel free to include references in your application

Who are we at Beder School?

Our SFO and school are beautifully located a little south of Aarhus, surrounded by the calm and beauty of nature. We have both beach, forest, and open fields nearby, which we actively incorporate into our daily life. Beder School is a natural part of the local community, which is close by and engaged with the school.

Beder School is easily accessible from both the south and the north. The light rail and bus 100 run several times an hour, so it is quick to get here and from here to both Aarhus and Odder.

We work trustfully together with parents so that both children and adults feel part of a strong community.

At the school we have general, Nest classes and special classes, all integrated into SFO.

Therefore all adults work daily to ensure that SFO is an inclusive leisure and learning environment where all children – regardless of prerequisites – have the opportunity to thrive and develop. The school and the SFO work closely together, which allows us to support the children across their school and leisure activities. In the SFO we follow the children from 0th to 3rd grade, and you will therefore be a significant part of the children’s and the parents’ daily life at Beder.

Our values

We believe in the importance of creating committed communities , where children learn to collaborate, take responsibility and support each other.

We work with vision , so that children have the opportunity to explore the world around them – both in nature and through cultural, social and creative activities. It is about creating curiosity and understanding for both the near and the far.

An important part of our pedagogy is to strengthen children’s life skills . We want to equip the children to handle life’s challenges with perseverance, self-confidence and an open mind. Through safe frameworks and supportive adults, we work to develop children’s personal and social competencies, so they become independent, responsible and action-oriented people.

Everyday life in the SFO

In our SFO, the children’s well-being and participation are in the foreground. We see the SFO as the children’s place, where they have the opportunity to shape their daily life and activities. We attach great importance to children having a say in the decisions that concern them and their time in the SFO. The children’s communities are our primary entry point to strengthen the children’s friendships and relational skills.

We are an age-group divided SFO where 0th and 1st grades are divided into indoor areas, but share outdoor areas, and 2nd – 3rd grades share both indoor and outdoor areas. The SFO pedagogues follow the classes from 0th to 3rd grade and therefore gain especially good knowledge and strong secure relationships with the children from their class and department – as well as with the parents.

At the same time we also work with community-building activities across departments – this includes smaller activities that can run over several weeks, larger activities such as role play, and monthly events like “The Stage is Yours” and “Gak-Gak Friday.”

In the departments you will meet skilled pedagogical colleagues as well as 1 to 2 assistants, student helpers, wonderful children from the general, Nest and special areas.

We plan the week together as a team, and here you have ample opportunity to lead the activities you are passionate about. We base it on what we and the children find fun, exciting and meaningful – it can be anything from creative projects and sports activities to grilling, bonfires and fort-building. We are open to the children’s ideas and input, and together we create activities that both challenge and support their development – while having fun. The weekly activities are both structured and free, so there is room for creativity, play and spontaneity.

Every Wednesday all classes in the primary school have a joint school day, where the SFO pedagogues participate from 10:00 – 13:30, with the class you are a class pedagogue for. You will also have a couple of two-adult lessons in teaching.

You will have two days per week where you close the SFO at 16:30 / 17:00 and one opens at 06:30 every second week.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a trained pedagogue who

  • Has a view of children that aligns with the idea that children do their best and that it is the adults who must do something different.
  • Has an interest in the special needs area and is motivated to work with both children with special needs and children who need extra support. Your interest in (and experience with) inclusive work will be a great advantage.
  • Is engaged in children’s activities and can plan and carry out fun and meaningful activities together with the children. It is natural for you to be an active part of children’s leisure time and to create frameworks for their development through play and learning.
  • Is collaborative and thrives in a cross-professional environment , where you work closely with both teachers and pedagogues. We place great emphasis on good collaboration and communication so that we can together create the best frameworks for the children.
  • Is clear, appreciative and has a positive approach , both in interactions with the children and in collaboration with colleagues and parents. We are looking for a pedagogue who can create safe and developmental frameworks where children feel seen and heard.
