About the job

Center for Service, Digitalisation & Beredskab,

Leadership of people, safe operations and the emergency preparedness of the future

Are you a unifying leader who can set direction and create engagement? Do you want to lead a local fire service and help shape Lejre Municipality's work with societal security, emergency planning and resilience in a time of new threats and expectations?

We hope you want to apply for the position of chief of emergency services at Lejre Fire Service.

About Lejre Fire Service

Lejre Fire Service is one of the country’s smaller municipal emergency services with around 40 employees, of which the majority are part‑time firefighters. We respond from stations in Kirke Hyllinge and Hvalsø and handle approximately 200 incidents annually. We are also in a time where emergency preparedness is about more than firefighting and response. Societal security, climate adaptation, critical infrastructure and total preparedness are increasingly shaping our work.

Therefore we are seeking a chief of emergency services who can both ensure strong operations today and contribute to developing tomorrow's emergency service.

About the job

As chief of emergency services you will have the overall responsibility for the operation, development and leadership of Lejre Fire Service. You will become the top professional leader and the municipality's central advisor on the emergency preparedness area. At the same time you will be an important partner for the executive, politicians, managers and external authorities.

Who are you?

We envisage that you

  • Have experience with leadership and organizational development
  • Have management experience from an operational organization, e.g. emergency services, rescue service, defence or police
  • Can achieve results through others and build strong relationships
  • Have a sense for both operations, economy and long‑term development
  • Communicate clearly and credibly at all levels
  • Maintain overview and decisive action in critical situations
  • Are analytical, pragmatic and solution‑oriented
  • Can create followership among engaged staff with different roles and terms

We offer

At Lejre Fire Service you get a unique opportunity to make a significant mark on an emergency service in development. You will receive:

  • A wide scope for leadership with short decision‑making lines
  • Committed staff and leaders
  • Opportunity to shape the future emergency preparedness
  • A central role in the municipality's work with societal security
  • A smaller municipality characterized by trust, integrity and collaboration
