About the job

About the position and about us

In the Cancer Clinic we work to ensure safe, individualized and well-planned patient pathways. We have a strong focus on professionalism, development, interdisciplinary collaboration and a good working environment.

We are seeking a nurse with a strong nursing professional commitment, which is clearly reflected in the interaction with patients and relatives. You should have special competencies in communication and relational nursing. At the same time you should be curious about new knowledge and ready to improve in a specialty in constant development. For us it is important that you see opportunities rather than limitations.

Who are we?

The Cancer Clinic is part of the Cancer Department, which also includes a cancer ward and the Palliative Care Unit with an accompanying clinic and ward.

In the Cancer Clinic, which will be your primary workplace, patients come for outpatient medical cancer treatment. The patients' treatment courses vary from a few months to several years, which means that we as nurses follow the patients over a longer period. Therefore we prioritize contact nursing and place great emphasis on creating continuity and security for our patients and relatives.

Interdisciplinarity and collegial community

We place a high value on interdisciplinary collaboration. In the department we are about 35 nurses as well as doctors and secretaries, all working to create the best possible patient pathways. We also collaborate with physiotherapists, occupational therapists and dietitians, where we bring the different professionalities into play for the benefit of the patients. It is therefore important that you thrive in a team-oriented environment and see the value in both the close collegial community and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Colleagues describe the Cancer Clinic as a department with breadth in both age and experience, a positive atmosphere and a culture characterized by helpfulness and support. Here you are never alone, and everyday life is built on mutual respect, trust in each other’s competencies and strong interdisciplinary collaboration. At the same time, there is a good balance between time and tasks, a welcoming atmosphere and professionally grounded leadership.

We take the individual patient as our starting point

In the Cancer Department we take the individual patient as our starting point, which is expressed among other things by:

  • Use of patient-reported information (AmbuFlex)
  • Shared decision-making based on the individual patient’s wishes and needs
  • Offer of family discussions for parents and children of those affected by cancer in collaboration with Cancer Society
  • Offer of training programs in “Body and Cancer”

Physical framework

The Cancer Clinic has 24 treatment places and a large patient flow. In addition, we have a satellite function in the Center for Health in Holstebro, where two nurses handle medical cancer treatment three days a week.

We primarily work during daytime hours. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we have extended opening hours until 17:00 or 19:30, and you should expect to have one of these late shifts about every 2 weeks. As a nurse in the Cancer Clinic you also participate in weekend duty in the cancer ward every 6 weeks.

What we hope you bring

  • You have broad clinical experience, preferably in the cancer field.
  • You have completed or are willing to complete a course in medical cancer treatment.
  • You have strong communication and pedagogical skills and can establish trustworthy relationships with patients and relatives.
  • You thrive working independently and know when to seek sparring from your colleagues.
  • You want to contribute to nursing professional development and to implementing new initiatives and workflows.
  • You actively participate in professional meetings and teaching and are curious about new knowledge.
  • You have good collaboration skills and contribute to a safe and supportive collegial community.
  • You approach everyday challenges with a positive and solution-oriented attitude.
  • You are willing to work with the instrumental nursing tasks that accompany medical cancer treatment.
  • You have IT skills at user level.
  • You are prepared to be part of the entire Cancer Department, including to cover weekend duty in the cancer ward every 6 weeks.
