About the job

Can you see patterns in numbers and translate them into good decisions? Then read on, for you might be our new and first Business Controller at Dinero 🎉

Apply here!

Can you see patterns in the finances, ask the right questions and translate numbers into something the rest of the business can actually use? And do you want to take a central role in a company where the Business Controller function is to be built from the ground up? Then you should read on 👀

You will be our first Business Controller

This is not a position where you take over a place in an existing Finance team with a ready-made manual under your arm. You will actually be Dinero's first internal Business Controller. That means you get a fairly special opportunity to help shape how we work with finance and business controlling going forward. There isn't necessarily a definitive answer sheet for all tasks yet. On the other hand, there are plenty of opportunities to leave your mark.

You will work closely with our COO, the management and the rest of Dinero. You will be our go-to person when we need to understand the finances, look ahead and make decisions on a better basis.

And even though you will be our only Business Controller, you certainly will not be alone. You will have great colleagues around you, lots of cross-functional collaboration and a workplace where it is perfectly legitimate to reach out, ask questions and bounce an idea over a cup of coffee ☕️

What will you do with us?

If you are hoping for a role where you can sit undisturbed and get peace to book invoices all day long, then honestly this is not where you should throw your hat in the ring 😇 We are looking for a Business Controller who can help look forward.

A large part of your task will be to use the finances to qualify our decisions. This can be when we talk budgets, create forecasts or need to understand what different decisions mean for our finances.

You will, among other things, work with

📊 Forecasting and financial follow-up – what do we expect to happen, and why?

💰 Annual budget → in close collaboration with the management you will help set the budget and challenge the assumptions it is built on.

🔎 Month-end close → both soft close and hard close as well as the subsequent analysis of what the numbers really tell us.

📈 Management reporting → you will own the finance part and help make the reporting relevant and useful for the management.

🧠 Quality control and Visma reporting → you will navigate Visma’s working and reporting methods and ensure things are placed correctly. For example, Visma may ask us to separate AI costs from our other software costs. Here your task is not just to find an account to put them on. You must understand what lies behind the numbers, find the right setup and ensure that we report correctly and understand what the numbers tell us.

🧾 Audit and year-end closing → you will become a central part of our work on audits and year-end closing. And yes, right here we expect you to have some experience with an annual close before. It is important that you can navigate securely in that part of the engine room from the start.

📚 Bookkeeping → If you think bookkeeping isn’t exactly the thing that makes your heart beat faster ❤️‍🔥, that’s actually perfectly fine. We are open to outsourcing the bookkeeping, or ideally automating it so you can spend more of your time on the tasks where your skills and energy create the most value.

Can it be automated?

You should not have to spend your time on heavy manual processes. We already have a strong back-office setup, including Chargebee as our subscription management system. This means that a large part of the classic processes around our subscriptions already run automatically. Invoicing, credits, revenue allocation, and depreciation of unpaid invoices happen, for example, automatically. And since customers pay for our services with credit cards, there aren’t a lot of manual payments to handle either.

But we want to get even better. Therefore, we hope you view automation as the default and not as the cherry on top. When you get a new task, your first thought should preferably be “How can we automate this?” Not just for your own sake, but because good processes make everyday life easier for the whole Dinero.

You’re welcome to look toward our product too 👀

We hope you’re curious about what we build, who we build it for, and how our product evolves. For us, business and product are closely intertwined. And when the time is right, you’re more than welcome to contribute with your perspective.

Maybe you see a pattern in customer behavior. Maybe you discover an economic consequence of a product decision that others haven’t thought of. Or maybe you just have a good idea for how we can do something smarter.

Who could you be?

Of course, you’ll need to be sharp with finance. But if you ask us what will be the most important competence in the role, the answer is actually communication. It doesn’t help much to be able to create the perfect forecast if you can’t explain what it means.

Additionally, we hope that you

✔️ can see patterns and have a good business understanding

✔️ are solidly grounded in finance and controlling

✔️ have experience with month-end close and have tried year-end/annual closing

✔️ can communicate finance so both financial people and non-finance people understand it

✔️ dare to ask questions and challenge decisions in a constructive way

✔️ are passionate about automation and want to make things smarter.

✔️ want to be part of the community and collaborate across the entire Dinero

If you are also the type who gets a bit of energy from discovering a pattern in the numbers that no one else has seen, we can almost not keep our arms down.

It actually sounds like me!

If you’re sitting and thinking “That’s me, that is!”, then hurry to send us your application.

We don’t want the classic, kilometer-long application where you tell us you are “structured, proactive and detail-oriented.” We know well that you must write that in a job application 🤷‍♀️

We would much rather get TO KNOW YOU. Tell us what makes you thrive at work, how you use finance to support the business and perhaps about a time when you challenged a decision or found an insight in the numbers that made a difference.

Write freely. We want to understand who sits behind the Excel sheet.

We read applications on an ongoing basis and will reach out to candidates we think could be a good match.

We look forward to hearing from you and hope to welcome our new Business Controller as soon as possible.

May I ask you something?

Of course! If you have questions about the position, the role or everyday life with us, you are, of course, very welcome to reach out.

You will work closely with our COO, so this is also where you can get answers to some of the more business-oriented questions. On [email protected].

If you have questions about the recruitment process, company culture or other issues not related to forecasts and year-end closings, you can catch HR at [email protected] 🤗
