Can you make mathematics come alive for the youngest?

Trekronerskolen is seeking an engaged mathematics teacher and class teacher for 1st grade. We are looking for someone who can spark enthusiasm for mathematics through play, investigations and clear frameworks – and who wants to help give the children a safe, educational and good start to school.

Your role As a mathematics teacher and class teacher in 1st grade, you will, together with your partner and the rest of the year group team, share responsibility for creating a safe, recognizable and motivating school day. You must be able to bring mathematics to life for the youngest students while maintaining solid classroom management.

• make mathematics concrete, playful and meaningful through numbers, shapes, patterns and problem solving
• develop investigative teaching that gives children curiosity and mathematical success experiences
• lead the class clearly and compassionately with calm, warmth and clear expectations
• take shared responsibility for the students’ academic development, well-being and participation in the community
• actively contribute to the collaboration between teachers, pedagogues and SFO

We are looking for someone who • is a trained teacher – preferably with mathematics as a specialization – and passionate about primary education

• loves the class-teacher role and wants to create a good start to school together with close colleagues
• works in a structured way and can create calm, predictability and good opportunities for participation
• has a resource-oriented and inclusive view of children
• invests in a strong and binding team spirit and wants to develop practices with others

Creative or musical competencies are an additional asset. If you are a trained mathematics mentor – or would like to become one – we would also like to hear from you. We would like to support the possibility of mentor education and eventually mentoring tasks within mathematics.

Our pedagogical direction At Trekronerskolen we work purposefully with strong and inclusive communities. We have a special focus on the smooth transition from daycare to kindergarten and further to 1st grade. Our pedagogical foundation includes Nest methods, which we develop in close collaboration with the school’s mentor team. We also use Project-Based Learning (PBL) within clear and structured frameworks.

The goal is a varied school day where academic excellence, well-being and community go hand in hand, and where all children feel they can contribute and belong.

A strong working community Trekronerskolen is 25 years old and located in Roskilde’s new district. The school has about 850 children, around 80 dedicated staff and an active and involved parent group. We work with self-managing year-group teams, flexible planning based on goals and content as well as annual norms. Our practice is based on a resource-oriented and appreciative pedagogy.
