About the job
Do you want to lead the Lieutenant School and help shape the leaders of tomorrow in the Army and set the direction for education of the Army's young officers? Are you a manager with solid operational experience, a sharp tactical understanding and the ability to make decisions under pressure?
We are looking for a committed officer with the willingness to lead, the courage to develop and integrity to be the head of the Lieutenant School. If you are a match to the above, you should apply for this position.
About us
The Lieutenant School is part of the Army Officer School under the Defence Academy and constitutes the first step in the education of Army officers. The school educates both officers directly for service in the Army and for entry as cadets at the Army Officer School. The training focuses heavily on tactics and leadership and prepares the students to lead infantry platoons during both enabling, defensive and offensive tactical activities.
The goal is to train officers who can handle all the tasks that a platoon leader in a combined unit faces, and who at the same time have the necessary foundation to continue on the staff officer education at the Army Officer School
The terms and framework of the Lieutenant Training are sometimes dynamic, which provides an exciting and challenging daily life. Instructors at the Lieutenant Training consist mainly of rotational personnel from across the Army, which helps keep the training up to date with the latest from Army units.
About the position
As head of the Lieutenant School you will plan and conduct the training according to directives from the Chief of the Army Officer School. You are a central actor in the execution and development of the Basic Lieutenant Training, which all officers for the Army must complete. The position also entails close collaboration with the Defence Academy staff, the Army Officer School, the Army Command and other partners.
An important part of your work as head is to develop your leaders and instructors in tactics and leadership, so that the students are presented with good educational solutions; and leaders and instructors appear as competent examples and role models. The head of the Lieutenant School is expected, through dialogue with the Army and the Army Officer School, to contribute to the development of the education and the Lieutenant School so that it constantly adapts to the current situation and context.
As you are the daily representative of the Defence Academy and the Army Officer School at Antvorskov Barracks, you will be responsible for representing FAK and HO in various collaboration forums at the barracks.
The position reflects a dynamic and challenging daily life, where you help shape the Army's future leaders and have opportunities for professional and personal development in close cooperation with dedicated colleagues.
You will have a qualified staff with all relevant functions and will have two-three companies with a head, deputy commander and platoons under you depending on production targets.
You will join the Army Officer School's chief group, report to and spar with the chief of this and your personnel will participate in activities together with the Army Officer School's staff.
About you
You are a Lieutenant Colonel or Major (M331) with potential for appointment.
You have competencies and experience in educational planning, command work, company/sub-unit level and leadership. You have high professional expertise in tactics and you work analytically and maintain an overview – even in busy and changing periods.
You are innovative and show flexibility, as both the education and the school undergo significant changes in the coming years. The number of students shall grow and the education must be constantly updated in line with the requirements on the modern battlefield and the Army's derived development.
You are good with people, and you understand how to bring your colleagues' competencies and strengths into play, regardless of rank or background. You understand how to create collaboration and cohesion and can balance between setting requirements, motivating and developing your staff, leaders, instructors and lieutenant students. At the same time you are also responsible and quality-oriented in your deliveries.
Overall you present yourself as a good example for the students and the permanent staff and thereby meet the requirements we place on future officers in strength, integrity, courage and will.
