About the job

Would you stand at the helm of a highly specialized department for breast examinations? Are you a motivating staff leader who can create followership, collaboration and well-being? And can you lead the department and the employees through the changes that follow the health reform?

The Department for Breast Examinations is seeking a chief radiographer who finds it easy to establish and maintain stable and flexible collaborative relationships. Someone who works from a high professional level, and who has visions for the department's continued development.

Together with the chief physician you will handle the strategic, administrative, financial, professional and personnel leadership of the department. You will join the hospital's overall management, which has a close collaboration with the executive team, the other hospitals and municipalities.

The department works purposefully to design the best elective patient pathways with patient safety, satisfaction and quality as benchmarks, and as chief radiographer you must be able to show the way, gain followership, inspire and motivate all professional disciplines across the department.

Together with the chief physician you are responsible for ensuring that the breast cancer pathway times are adhered to. And at the same time you will, in connection with the establishment of the Region of East Denmark on 1 January 2027, be responsible for ensuring that the department is prepared to meet the expectations and requirements that arise when we solve tasks for the large community in a unified eastern Danish health system.

As chief radiographer you must thus have both a strategic view that extends beyond your own hospital and a sharp view of daily operations management. This means that you must have the skills and the willingness for change management, which in the future will become even more of a cornerstone in the management role.

In addition you must be able to support and develop the department's research environment, just as you will largely work with education and competence development of the staff, because we believe that focus on education and a good working environment creates the best conditions for our patients.

About the department

The Department of Breast Examinations is housed in refurbished, fine premises with brand new equipment at Gentofte Hospital.

The department is the region's only mammography unit, and patients are referred from across the Capital Region. In the department, patients with symptoms of breast diseases and patients who are monitored in a treatment pathway are examined, as well as women who are recalled for investigation from the breast cancer screening program. The department has the pathway responsibility until patients are diagnosed and either referred to the Department of Breast Surgery or concluded in the department.

The department is also responsible for the regional breast cancer screening program. The department is linked to five regional breast cancer screening clinics at Hillerød, Hvidovre, Bornholm, Bispebjerg and Gentofte hospitals. The screening secretariat is located on Bornholm. The target group for the screening program is about 220,000 women aged 50-69 and about 8,500 women operated for breast cancer, who continue in the screening program until they are 79 years old.

The department includes a large secretariat where management sits as well as triage nurses, medical secretaries and IT system administrators. Since the department holds great expertise, there is regularly staff and guests from other regions to seek inspiration, participate in conferences or hold meetings. The department also prioritizes research activity and has a PhD student.

The department has a close collaboration within the multidisciplinary team with breast surgeons, oncologists and pathologists, from several sites in the region.
