About the job
Do you want to lead a highly specialized department for breast imaging? Are you a motivating staff leader who can create followership, collaboration and well-being? And can you lead the department and the staff through the changes that follow the health reform?
The Department of Breast Imaging is seeking a chief radiographer who can establish and maintain stable and flexible collaborative relationships easily. Who works from a high professional level, and who has visions for the department's continued development.
Together with the chief physician you will undertake the strategic, administrative, financial, professional and personnel leadership of the department. You will be part of the hospital-wide management, which has close collaboration with the board, the other hospitals and municipalities.
The department works purposefully to plan the best elective patient pathways with patient safety, satisfaction and quality as guiding stars, and as chief radiographer you must be able to show the way, gain followership, inspire and motivate all professional groups across the department.
Together with the chief physician you are responsible for ensuring that the breast cancer pathway times are adhered to. And at the same time, in connection with the establishment of Region East Denmark on January 1, 2027, you will be responsible for ensuring the department is prepared to meet the expectations and requirements that arise when we are to solve tasks for the large community in a unified eastern Danish healthcare system.
As chief radiographer you must therefore have both a strategic perspective that reaches beyond your own hospital, and a sharp view of daily operations. This means you must have the ability for and be ready for change management, which in the future will become an even more cornerstone of the management role.
In addition you must be able to support and develop the department's research environment, just as you will largely work with education and competence development of the staff, because we believe that focus on education and a good working environment creates the best conditions for our patients.
About the department
The Department of Breast Imaging is housed in refurbished, fine premises with brand new equipment at Gentofte Hospital.
The department is the region's only mammographic unit, and patients are referred from across the Capital Region of Denmark. The department examines patients with symptoms of breast disease and patients who are monitored in a treatment process, as well as women who are recalled for diagnostic work from the breast cancer screening program. The department has overall responsibility for pathways until patients are diagnosed and either referred to the Department of Breast Surgery or concluded in the department.
The department is also responsible for the regional breast cancer screening program. Five regional breast cancer screening clinics are linked to the department at Hillerød, Hvidovre, Bornholm, Bispebjerg and Gentofte hospitals. The screening secretariat is located on Bornholm. The target group for the screening program is about 220,000 women aged 50-69 and about 8,500 women who have undergone breast cancer surgery, who continue in the screening program until they turn 79.
The department includes a large secretariat where the management sits, as well as screening nurses, medical secretaries and IT system administrators. Because the department holds great expertise, staff and guests from other regions come regularly to seek inspiration, participate in conferences or hold meetings. The department also prioritizes research activity and has a PhD student.
The department has close collaboration in the multidisciplinary team with breast surgeons, oncologists and pathologists, from several hospital sites in the region.
