Church sextons sought for Hvidbjerg, Lyngs and Jegindø Churches, Thyholm

Would you like to help create good conditions for the church's life and activities?

We are looking for engaged and service-minded church wardens for two positions at 11 hours per week with start on December 1, 2026 or as soon as possible.

As a church warden you will have a varied daily life with tasks across Hvidbjerg, Lyngs and Jegindø Churches as well as the church center. You will help ensure that the churches and church center are ready for services, religious ceremonies, concerts and other events, and you will become an important part of the daily collaboration around the churches' life and activities.

The working hours vary and are on weekdays, evenings and weekends and are scheduled according to the church's activities. There is, as a rule, duty every other weekend.

Your tasks

• Preparation of the church for services, baptisms, weddings, funerals, burials and other events.
• Participation in services as a church warden during services, including distribution of communion and operation of sound and presentation equipment.
• Decorating the churches for holidays and religious ceremonies.
• Cleaning of the church, chapel and church center.
• Setting up for meetings, teaching, concerts and events.
• Supervision of buildings, furnishings and technical equipment.
• Minor purchases for the operation of the church.

We are looking for a church warden who

• Is interested in the church and its life.
• Is friendly and enjoys contact with many different people.
• Works independently and takes responsibility.
• Can keep an overview in busy situations.
• Is flexible with regard to evening and weekend work.
• Has basic IT skills and preferably knowledge of AV equipment.

The most important thing is not that you can do everything from day one, but that you are practical, responsible and eager to learn.

About Hvidbjerg-Lyngs and Jegindø Churches

Hvidbjerg, Lyngs and Jegindø Churches are historic and vibrant churches on Thyholm with an active church and cultural life. The churches and church center provide the setting for services, concerts, lectures and gatherings, and as a church warden you will become an important part of this work.

Practical information

You will be employed by Hvidbjerg-Lyngs and Jegindø Parish Council , Nørregade 23, 7790 Thyholm.

There is an obligation to perform service at other employers in the deanery in accordance with the agreements the parish council enters into or has entered into.

The work takes place across the three churches and the church center, and travel between workplaces must therefore be expected. Use of one’s own car is expected in connection with the work.

A safeguarding/children’s certificate will be obtained in connection with the employment.

Salary and employment terms

Employment and remuneration are governed by the current unified agreement between the Ministry of Finance and OAO-S, as well as the organizational agreement for church wardens and related protocol attached between the Ministry of Church Affairs and the Danish Church Wardens Association. The agreements can be viewed on the folkekirkens intranet .

Current civil servant church wardens have the right to retain their civil servant status on direct transition to employment. In that case the position must be classified.

It is a condition that the mandatory 5-week church warden training is completed within two years of the start of employment if you have not already completed it.

Current annual full-time salaries

The annual salary is negotiated within the range of DKK 324,667 – 408,841 (current kroner).

The position is covered by a standby obligation. The annual standby allowance is 33,230.62 DKK (current kroner).

In addition, an OK supplement of 1,400.52 DKK is paid annually (current kroner).

A 15% pension contribution is paid to SAMPENSION.

Note , that the amounts stated apply to a full-time position. Salary, OK supplement and standby allowance are calculated pro rata according to the position's hours. Final pay grade is agreed between the parish council and the Danish Church Wardens Association.
