Do you want to be our new church caretaker?

Stefanskirken on Nørrebro is seeking a full-time church caretaker as of November 15 or as soon as possible thereafter.

As a church caretaker you will be a key person in a busy church with many activities. The work can best be described as a mix of janitor, event coordinator and practical support for the whole church.

Your role

You will, among other things, need to

· ensure that the church’s physical and practical framework works day-to-day and during events

· assist at services, funerals, weddings, baptisms and other activities

· be visible and approachable to worshippers, relatives, volunteers and staff

· participate in coordination meetings and work closely with priests, fellow church caretaker, sexton, church coordinator, organist, church musicians and volunteers

· perform practical tasks such as e.g. setup, tidying, outdoor maintenance and purchases

· are keen to learn new things and take initiative yourself

Kennis of work as a church caretaker and possibly church caretaker training is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Working hours and terms of employment

· 37 hours per week

· work every other weekend

· extra weekends during holidays and vacations

· working hours planned well in advance in collaboration with the parish administrator

· salary according to collective agreement

The probation period is three months.

Background check will be obtained upon hire.

Employment takes place with the Sankt Stefans Parish Council, Nørrebro Deanery, Copenhagen Diocese, according to applicable agreements for church caretakers.

The employment is covered by the Common Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees' Organizations - The Public Sector Collective Agreement (OAO-S Common Collective Agreement) and the Organizational Agreement between the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs and the Danish Church Stewards Association and the accompanying protocol for church caretakers.
