About the job
UNESCO Global Geopark The South Funen Archipelago seeks a razor-sharp communicator, event- and network-coordinator
- Can you work independently with the Geopark secretariat's diverse communications tasks and at the same time be the driving force behind our partner network of local businesses?
- Do you have the communications expertise in place and strong skills in event coordination and network facilitation?
- The secretariat's new employee must be able to lead and contribute to developing our communications efforts while also taking responsibility as the coordinator for the geopark's partnership network, which today consists of 70 companies, institutions and associations of all sizes across the Geopark.
We are looking for an outgoing colleague who
- is a creative and skilled storyteller who can translate our many different projects and collaborations into stories that engage locally and strengthen the connection between our very special place and all the people who live in or visit it.
- can motivate companies, organisations and associations to strengthen their sustainable development and inspire and equip them as ambassadors who help raise the story of the geopark.
- longs to bring their communications expertise into play to strengthen the connection between people and nature, geology and culture – or already has experience with it.
About the position
The Geopark secretariat plays a central role across the four southern Funen municipalities in creating broad awareness that our UNESCO-designed place on the planet is something very special and thus a positive sense of identity, pride and a will to act.
Your role will be to strengthen this awareness through the secretariat's external communications and two annually recurring signature events – Geopark Days and Geopark Symposium.
The starting point is therefore both the numerous diverse projects that the secretariat either runs or is a partner in, but also a communications that supports the story of other good projects and initiatives realized across the collaboration and network partners in the whole area.
At the same time you will have the responsibility for the coordination, facilitation and further development of the geopark's partnership network. The geopark secretariat is the formal home for the network, and as coordinator you will be a front figure, focal point and catalyst for both operations and development.
Your main tasks will be to
- find and convey the good story – whether it concerns current events in the Geopark, or the development of projects spanning several years.
- produce content and run the Geopark secretariat's social media (Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn) as well as the newsletter.
- keep the Geopark's website up to date and help continuously develop it to become more inspiring and engaging.
- be the overall coordinator for Geopark Days – Geopark's annual festival in the Ascension Day holiday week, including fundraising.
- further develop the partnership network with a focus on good relations as well as project development and synergies across the partners.
- plan and run network meetings and focus on relevant themes and development opportunities for the network.
- service the partnership's working group and partner committee.
You match several of the following qualifications
Communication
- You have a relevant education or concrete, documented experience
- You have experience producing content for social media, website, newsletter, and you can ensure that the secretariat's communications are coherent across channels and target groups.
- You can work in a website backend, understand the dynamics of social media, and stay updated on features and algorithms.
- You are imaginative and creative when creating visibility, and you write engaging, recipient-oriented and inspiring content.
- You have experience with communicating and presenting complex material – such as geology, climate change, biodiversity and sustainable development.
- You have experience with event coordination and/or fresh courage to coordinate the annual Geopark festival in collaboration with strong partners.
- You thrive with varying workloads and with both field content production and office writing work.
- You have an updated digital toolbox and skills in producing audio, video and graphics.
- You communicate with an understanding of the importance of objectivity and thoroughness in task solving in a politically governed organization.
Network coordination and facilitation
- You have experience acting as a bridge-builder, creating trust and maintaining relationships across organisations and companies.
- You are outgoing and service-oriented, as well as good at finding common ground between different actors.
- You are fluent in planning, structuring and conducting meetings and workshops.
- You have the ability to identify relevant themes, spot trends within the green transition and business community, and translate them into development opportunities for a network.
- You feel confident in structuring processes for admission and evaluation of network participants.
- You have competencies in secretariat support regarding partner committees and working groups, and are able to maintain an overview of administrative processes.
Geopark The South Funen Archipelago offers
- A prominent position in an ambitious organisation that emphasises inspiring sustainable development within a range of focus areas.
- Opportunity to work professionally with communications, visibility and engagement as an approach to anchor a shared awareness of the geopark and a holistic view of nature.
- Broad contact with local, national and international stakeholders including interest organisations, universities, other geoparks, nature parks and UNESCO designations.
- A daily life in one of Denmark's most beautiful areas with interesting, engaged people and good opportunities for active outdoor life both on land and on water
